My mastery bridge, bridge plate, and antiquity pickups have all arrived. Now i'm just waiting on the guitar itself. I really hope it ends up being delivered, today.

Man, its going to be so amazing when you do though.

Waiting on the package is always the best part!

Fender Bassbreaker 15?

Is that a pretty good amp to start out with on the tube life?

I kinda thought opening the package was better.

I think that's a very good affordable tube amp. Great blues and high gain tones. No way to switch channels, though, without physically turning the knob.

oooof. I don't like that.

So I play a lot of Blues and Metal, punk rock. Thus I love to be able to switch from clean to distorted channels quickly

Nope. The Bassbreaker 30r has a footswitch for channel selection.

Anyone interested in a nice Strat, these are great: https://reverb.com/item/60204486-fender-stratocaster-dave-s-guitar-shop-reissue-stratocaster

That's a better deal than I bought mine at. You could probably even offer a little lower. These Dave's Guitar Shop '62 reissue models are fantastic and have a thin nitro skin. I love mine. It feels like many customer shop strats I have played.

Those strats are fantastic. Not a fan of that blue personally though. Can't beat the powder blue IMO.

Don't buy that. If you are going to buy a hardcase, then get one specifically molded for your guitar. Spend the extra $100 on a good one.

No endorsement was expressed or implied.

Buyer beware.

One of the first things I noticed was how heavy that Gibson Lp was. I picked up a padded leather wide strap. Feels great.

Gibsons are definitely not light weight.

Yep. I own two ~3" wide leather straps for my LPs. My classic is definitely heavier than my Standard. Both are 9-hold routed weight relief, but it's crazy how much more significantly heavier the Classic is.

Musician's Friend is doing Stupid Deal of the Hour all day. These can be a fun watch. And maybe you find a deal!

The tracking number says it's out for delivery again... we'll see if I get it, today.

Finally received it! Everything seems to be in order. Definitely not a fan of these pickups, but all that is going to change.

I have to say, my CS Tele blows it out of the water. I'm hoping the antiquity pickups and mods I have done to it really make it a great guitar. Unfortunately, these mods require serious changes to the guitar, so I could possibly be putting myself in a position where it will be hard to resell, if they don't do it for me.

I like that glossy cream wood finish though.

Looks like some craftsmanship is ahead of you to get your sound!

So I finally sat down and tried to see if something was obviously wrong with the Epiphone LP after I replaced the pickups. Solders all seem to be solid. What I have discovered is I think I wired the switch backward as I think it's the bridge pickup that is working. I get nothing from the middle position or the neck. If I was a spaz and wired the neck and middle position backward, would they both not work?

Is that Daves Guitar a good way to sell a guitar? Do they hammer you with a percentage, listing fees and tax like ebay? Thanks.

The Dave's I know is a guitar shop so if you sell to them you're going to get less because they expect to resell. It's got its annoyances, but I prefer to do Facebook Marketplace and sell in person. I've had bad experiences with people on eBay/Reverb so I avoid that if possible.
Lathspell

Yeah, always avoid selling to a shop unless you don't care about money. They will only offer you about half of what it's worth

I've had nearly 26 or so transactions on Reverb and not had one bad experience, yet. Reverb will take 5% of any sell you make on it, but it's an easy and safe way of selling/buying gear.

It's not hard to check the wiring on a basic setup. If it all looks correct, it's possible you burnt up the pot when soldering.

What wiring diagram were you using?

It has been a fun week playing my Schecter for Metal and new Gibson LP for classic rock and blues.

Honestly feels like when I first got into music again. Great feeling.

I used the Emerson diagram. As best I could anyway since it was a bad xerox. What surprises me is the middle position doesn't work either. I'd think I'd get something out of it. That's what had me wondering if I wired that wrong.
Lathspell

The Emerson kit is just a drop in. You soldered the grounds correctly and everything? Are the pickups 4 conductor?

Can you post a picture of the electronics cavity?

Kicking back with that whiskey and playing guitar ain't a bad way to spend a Friday night.

I was playing my Strat earlier. So, cool story about the strat. The spring for the tremolo was messed up and the arm was slightly bent. So I reached out to Dave's Guitar Shop via their online support form to ask which arm and spring are compatible with their '62 Strats so I could order one. He just responded with, "Give me your address and i'll send you one." I told him I bought the guitar secondhand and was more than willing to pay for the arm, but he said it's not a problem.

Got home today, and the arm/spring was at my door.

That's awesome. I'm sure it has been mentioned but is the the Dave's based out of WIsconsin?

I love to hear of people doing good things for others. In this case it ultimately will pay itself back when I or someone else orders based on this story.

Yep, that's the shop. Similar to the service I've gotten at Fuller's. At the very least, I may buy some sets of strings from Dave's Guitar just to give them some money. I will say, from my constant online guitar safari'ing, Dave's Guitar Shop seems to have good prices on used guitars. I generally always look through their stock.

As posted earlier in this thread, I bought one of their thin skin strats, and it's a fantastic strat. It just feels resonant and vintage.

I still have this set of Duncan Antiquity P-90's that need a guitar to be installed in...

They also have some ridiculous instruments that are fun to look at.
