Love the third Indy movie, but Goonies should have won.

I just do not understand the love for Coming to America. WTF.

It's a great movie but not better than Caddyshack.

that was a tough one, not surprised it was that close.

I thought BHC would have been tighter with Vacation

I was equally surprised, BHC is a lot of people's first exposure to an R-rated Eddie Murphy outside of the comedy specials, and has several other memorable characters, but Vacation has been a war horse through the first few rounds

Coming to America was losing to Caddyshack almost all day but took the lead last night and held out.

I was more surprised with Last Crusade taking out the Goonies. Guess it could be that the TexAgs population is skewing younger than me (46) and the late 80s stuff is getting more love

Or it could just be a better movie?

I'm on the younger side, and the release year has played zero part in my decisions.

Dude, you may not realize it, but look at your posting history on this entire board (e.g your response to Classic Disney movies).....the release year ABSOLUTELY plays a factor in your decisions.

Very true, we all wear blinders when it comes to stuff like this based on the age we saw it at. Guys my age think Jar Jar Binks is god-awful, but the Ewoks were no big deal.

If you had seen Return of the Jedi and Revenge of the SIth at the ages I saw them (9 and 31), you probably wouldn't find ROTS to be the better film.

Last Crusade wins because of one key element: sex appeal.

Precisely. Age you saw it plays a much bigger role than release year.

ie. ET being on the older side in this tourney, but one of my favorite childhood movies. Similary with Back to the Future, or any number of movies.

It's not about release year.

And ironically, Goonies was a childhood movie for me that I saw growing up, Indy 3 was not. (Saw it as a teenager.)

But let's be real, Last Crusade wins that contest.

And while I'm biased towards BTTF due to the above, I can say with at least a modicum of objectivity that it's a better movie than ROTJ.

There are great things in ROTJ, and there are a lot of bad to terrible things in it as well. And yet for all the hundreds of times I've seen BTTF, I can't find fault with it. I consider it a perfect movie just like I do ESB.

It barely beat Caddyshack - but I agree.

Other than an Eddie Murphy vehicle it's not that funny - Eddie has several funnier movies.

Yes but it's mostly a cartoonish over the top caricature with a few shining moments. Overrated.

It blows my mind that people don't like Coming to America. My friends and I quote the barber shop and especially the church scene and have since we met at A&M in the early 90s.

But Ferris better take down Coming to America now... that's NO CONTEST.

I took even more underdogs here.

Also give me Die Hard over Top Gun any day. And Vacation over Ghostbusters if you are talking funnier movie.

Not me....

ESB over Terminator of course.... the best SW movie wins over anything. Even though I'm an unabashed Terminator lover.

But the 5th best SW movie is not better than one of the best 80s franchises first film. Or at least it's not a clearcut favorite here. BTTF was huge. Give me Doc and Marty over Ewoks. Should be close I think.

ROTJ/BTTF has been nip and tuck all morning. Although one IP address seems to be all in on BTTF.

When it comes to "quotable movies", Caddyshack beats Coming to America like a drum. Come on now. Even Scarface has more famous quotes.
