AMC in Austin only showed 20 minutes of trailers.
LOL I was on vacation when they were filming this at the resort in Mexico we were staying at. I might actually go see itTobias Funke said:
I went to the 7:30 showing of Star Wars last night, and the movie started at about 8:10.
Now, I love trailers as much as the next next guy, but 40 minutes of previews with 1-2 commercials mixed in (there was a weird Google commercial that was made to look like a movie trailer) is getting crazy. Is this only happening for huge "blockbuster" movies like SW, or are all theater movies getting paired with about 8 trailers now?
Side note: the trailer for "Barb and Star go to Vista Del Mar" was one of the worst concepts I've ever seen. Whatever they were trying to do there did not work

All the snacks and drinks are gone by the time the movie starts.

Go see Rise of Skywalker. We got commercials for everything from kids movies to action to a chick flick.ro828 said:
What irritates me is that so often the previews you get are only for movies in the genre you've bought tickets for. Seeing a romantic comedy? Here are previews for every romantic comedy coming out in the next twelve months. A horror thriller? Same thing.
We saw it last night and really enjoyed it. A solid sequel. Kevin Hart was funnier in this one than he was in the first.willie wonka said:
I saw a trailer for jumanji today at ford vs Ferrari. Jumanji looks horrible. How was it?
schmendeler said:that's another good point. yeah, they definitely reduced the amount of people that could fit in a theater at one time with those recliners.AtlAg05 said:
Aren't they reducing the number of seats to put in the nice recliners? At least they did at the AMC near me.
Less paying customers but had to increase commercials to offset.

If you liked the first one, you'll like this one. Not quite as good, but it's hard to not be funny when you've got Jack Black, Kevin Hart, and the Rock all doing different characters.willie wonka said:

Happened to see Shazam yesterday as well. IMO, Shazam >>> this Jumanji, but still a good "turn your brain off" time.
A very good point.jenn96 said:
I'm with y'all; 30-40 minutes of trailers is borderline psychological abuse anyway but for a movie that is aimed at kids it's beyond aggravating. A five year old can't sit 3 hours in a theater. The insaneness of the trailer time is the primary reason I don't take my kids to movies in the theater anymore; they don't make it to the end and it becomes a massive pain the in the butt. That is 100% fixable by the theaters if they choose to.
