While I get that Memorial Day makes a whole helluva lot more sense for a movie like Top Gun, this still totally sucks that this movie is now coming out two full years after it was supposed to.

Technically THREE years. When filming, it was originally scheduled for summer 2019. But halfway through the shoot they decided they needed more time for aerial photography/editing and bumped the movie to summer 2020. The pandemic then hit and the rest is history.

That's awesome. And as I posted earlier, Shang-Chi is projected to break the Labor Day Weekend record this weekend. Granted, traditionally, Labor Day Weekend hasn't been a huge earner, but it would still be a big deal and an encouraging sign if they actually pull it off.

First of all, I can't believe this isn't a spoof trailer, because it really does seem that impossibly stupid that it's been made.

Second, imagine how many headlines and blogs are going to call it "Moonfail" in their reviews. Possibly all of them.

Third, advertising that you directed 2012 and The Day After Tomorrow is not a positive.

Fourth, this seems like it could challenge Catwoman as the worst movie Halle Berry has ever made.

Fifth, Patrick Wilson is in it. James Marsden had his phone on silent when the call went out for bland white guy to play lead."

Sixth, Sam Tarly is in it. Who the hell is watching Horn Hill if Sam Tarly is in space? And his name in the movie is "KC Houseman." So apparently it's a pron movie.

Seventh, Michael Pena is in it. Cmon, man! You don't need this! You were in the Martian and both Ant-Mans and Narcos Season 3!

Eighth, it's aliens. Because read this plot synopsis from IMDB. In Moonfall, a mysterious force knocks the Moon from its orbit around Earth and sends it hurtling on a collision course with life as we know it. With mere weeks before impact and the world on the brink of annihilation, NASA executive and former astronaut Jo Fowler is convinced she has the key to saving us all - but only one astronaut from her past, Brian Harper and a conspiracy theorist K.C. Houseman believe her. These unlikely heroes will mount an impossible last-ditch mission into space, leaving behind everyone they love, only to find out that our Moon is not what we think it is.

Ninth, Donald Sutherland is in it. President Snow, I'm embarrassed for you.

Tenth, there are characters named "Scrawny" and "Bling" in it. Now I feel like Michael Bay directed it an the Transformers are going to be in it as well.

Eleventh I think it goes without saying that we must all watch this movie together.

Did the makers of this movie not see Geostorm? Or Greenland? Or any of those other recent "end of the world" disaster movies also starring Gerard Butler?

I mean, Geostorm has this same ridiculous look....and it was written and directed by Roland Emmerich's partner Dean Devlin! Those two worked together on so many movies, and have now made movies with similar premises.

Also, that tagline "In 2022.....the Moon will come to us!" sounds like an old Yakov Smirnoff joke. "In Soviet Russia....Moon comes to you!"

100% agree.

I also love disaster / end of the world / alien invasion movies.

I've discussed this with TCTTS in PM's before, but if anyone loves sci fi, also loves end of the world stuff, but wants a more realistic snd scientific approach, check out the book series The Long Winter. It's got everything you want without being cheesy like the typical end of the world movie. Only reason it's not on film yet is how expansive a budget would be needed to successfully pull it off.
