I will say I really dug the subtle motion of everything during the trips. Most psychedelic effects in movies and tv are just completely awful

Pretty accurate. It wasn't outright scary but it was extremely uncomfortable the entire time.Sex Panther said:
That's probably the most uncomfortable I've ever been in a theater

It's not what I would call a favorite movie of mine, but what an entertaining movie experience. I can't wait to see what he does next, especially in the horror genre, though in the AMA he's doing on reddit today, it sounds like a comedy is his next likely offering.

what is kind of funny to me is that it's basically a story of a girl that experiences a personal tragedy and ultimately finds a new loving family that welcomes her in. it's a feel good movie!
yeah the joke is on him for not walking away a long time before.BassCowboy33 said:schmendeler said:

I love how people on Twitter are using this as an example of a woman in a toxic relationship, blatantly ignoring the fact that her boyfriend emotionally held her up for years, forgoing physical intimacy, eventually getting drugged, raped, and burned to death.

Saw this tonight. Aster is going on my must watch list. 2 for 2. **** was weird, but in a really interesting way. I lost my **** when the "helpful" push happened. I think most of the theater did too.
Also lol, do you guys really think Christian was "holding her up"? Cause that's an awful misread, IMO. He was afraid to move on and was kind of a coward and did more harm than good, IMO. Once he had an option to move on, he did. And then he got roasted, lol.

Yeah I definitely think both were to blame.Proposition Joe said:MBAR said:

It's a situation where both of them are to blame, which is the key theme of co-dependence (to go along with desire for familial support and dependence.
She didn't want to lose him, but she wasn't doing a lot of the things that he wanted in the relationship. He didn't want to lose her (I think he had a line early in the film about what if he wants her back later but can't get her), but wasn't committed to making it work.
I don't think it's fair to say "once he had an option to move on, he did"... The drugs they kept feeding them had a lot to do with the decisions the two main characters made... They showed quite a bit of "resistance" by Christian before he finally broke and went into the barn.
In the end, Dani actually got the familial cradle she had been lacking since her tragedy... Christian certainly didn't benefit from the trip.
Aster certainly knows how to pick his young leads -- both Pugh and Wolff (Hereditary) absolutely nailed scenes of despair and discomfort in a way that you rarely see.
Do you even 2019 bro?? It was DEFINITELY the man's fault. No question.MBAR said:Yeah I definitely think both were to blame.Proposition Joe said:MBAR said:

Definitely really enjoyed this one.
Question, what happened to the girl that was from London, who's bf we were told left but we see him dead at the end. Did she end up getting away? Also to someone aboves point of what would've happened had Dani not come well I assume that other chick would've been scoped to be the May queen.
Is it possible to explain what was so uncomfortable about it without spoilers? We always watch a scary movie on Halloween and I'm trying to decide if this would be a good one to watch!Sex Panther said:
