In a vacuum, if this was the only cinematic Spider-Man we had, I would be in agreement that the Stark suit is too much. But seeing as we had the same old suit/spider-sense combo in the previous two franchise iterations, I welcomed something different this go around, and I actually kind of love the Stark suit, "Karen" - the whole thing. No, it's not pure Spider-man, but it has been a ton of fun, IMO.

Agree to disagree. There was plenty unique about Homecoming - actual teen, great story, humor, slightly out of control, Hot Mae. The movie in general just felt more "Spidey like" than any we have had. Until the stupid suit started talking. Dumb.

Stark putting AI into the suit made perfect sense, imo. It was also building to the Iron Spider, which was straight from the comics.

Agreed. This goes along with what I was saying on the second page about how this Spider Man hasn't yet carried his own film.

I think I'd have preferred it without Stark showing up.

For years and years, TexAgs (along with everyone else) talked about wanting Spider-Man to join the MCU. Once he finally did - against all odds - of course TexAgs would then complain about other characters from the MCU showing up in his movie. We had FIVE live-action movies of Spider-Man in his own universe. Was that not enough? This new iteration couldn't have gone any other way. And given the circumstances, I'd say Marvel navigated and executed it about as phenomenally as could have been expected.

Stark's role in Homecoming was basically Fury's role in most Marvel films = helping to tie it into the larger universe. Spider-Man ended up saving the day without any of the Stark tech and then turned down an offer join the Avengers. Not sure how Parker could have carried that film more.

Bump for the new trailer, set to drop in the morning - a trailer that WILL feature Endgame spoilers, according to reports. Just FYI.

My favorite row was already gone, but I still managed to get four good seats for that Tuesday night showing on the XD screen.

Looks awesome, Tom Holland is fantastic. Looking forward to more Fury and Happy and him dealing with (Endgame spoiler just in case) the loss of Tony

I will say that I'm pretty over the whole multiverse concept so I'm not thrilled about it coming to the MCU, although I understand that's about the oldest and most utilized plot device in comics there is. Oh well, I'm sure Marvel will handle it brilliantly.

What if in this this post snap world, he's actually a good guy? We keep waiting and waiting and waiting for the reveal..

And he ends joining the Avengers only to be the main villian in Avengers 5 and tears them apart form within.

I don't buy the multiverse thing.

Maybe he's a good guy and he's just trying to save the people in his Universe at the expense of the people in our universe

IF - and that's a big IF - this multi-verse angle turns out to be true, I think that might be a bridge too far for me. Time travel is one thing, but once we open up this cinematic universe into infinite universes, it all starts to lose a little weight and consequence for me. It's just too much. That, and especially on the heels of Into the Spider-Verse, we're potentially doing kind of the same thing here as well??? Is that now a Spider-Man franchise prerequisite? With Into the Spider-Verse, that was the whole conceit, and it worked phenomenally well, obviously, but to introduce that into the MCU... no thanks.

That said, yeah, SURELY this is a ruse put on by Mysterio, as that's his whole thing.

This looks fun and awesome. Love Spidey & TH in the role.

Also-box office wise- the release on Tuesday July 2nd will push this to a huge first 3 days (Tuesday-Thursday) followed by a huge first weekend.

Tuesday you'll get the die hards who would go whenever.
Wednesday you'll get the die hards & folks that can go because they have the 4th off.
The 4th you'll get a ton of families.
Then that weekend you'll have everyone who had other plans/obligations on the 4th.
