it was just dumb
My wife walked out of Pulp Fiction - hated it - I refused to leave because I loved it. she sat in the car waiting for me for an hour or more. Had a big fight about it. lol.
She swore off any and all Tarantino movies from that experience while I became a diehard fan.
Several years later (maybe 10-12 based on release) she flipped across Kill bill vol. 1 not knowing it was Tarantino. She watched til the end and declared she loved the movie - very artistic, etc.... then I told her it was Tarantino. She had a good laugh and said well she liked that one but still hated Pulp Fiction. she later watched and loved Part 2 also. Big fan of those 2 movies. Because of that was at least willing to see Inglorious Basterds and liked it but disliked Django Unchained and would not go to Hateful 8. I think I can get her to Once Upon a Time in hollywood though.
Interesting, my wife wouldn't ever drag me to movies like that. In turn, I never drag her to war movies or movies that I know she wouldn't like.Bruce Almighty said:
There's been a few movies my wife dragged me to that I would have walked out on if I had the option. Vanity Fair, Mama Mia, Atonement, Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants, etc.

My family and I left Arachnophobia because I was scared and 8yrs old.
I recommended that my church youth group go and see Fargo at the dollar theatre because it was getting Oscar buzz. Bad idea. I was not allowed to pick a movie any longer after that
