I'd be shocked if it passed The Force Awakens.

Okay I wasn't too sold on the Lion King remake, but that looks really good for cgi. I tentatively approve.

I guess I should withhold my contempt and snarkyness about the remakes till I actually see them.

In other news, Tim Allen let slip that Keanu Reeves is in Toy Story 4, and supposedly plays a big new character.

You're funny....

I would argue this might be the biggest box office ever for Disney.

The fan base for a film like this far exceeds the Star Wars fan base.

Next summer is ridiculously stacked for Disney.

In the span of three months, they'll release Avengers 4, Aladdin, Toy Story 4, and The Lion King.

That's 4 $1B+ movies in three months. It's insane.
So what are we thinking for total haul for Disney in 2019?

In addition to the 4 above, there's also Star Wars IX, Frozen 2, Captain Marvel, and probably a few more.

I think it could easily be a $6B+ year for them.

Between the ones listed in the OP (minus Artemis Fowl), plus Captain Marvel, Avengers, and Ep IX, I'm thinking $7B is damn near guaranteed.

Dumbo, Aladdin, and Captain Marvel are the only wildcards which could underperform a bit, but I doubt any of those flops. $600M is about the worst case scenario for any of those.

The other 5 are either guaranteed to do $1B+ or get damn close.

That's one of my favorite rides... I'd probably see that bust of a movie lol

Go see Ralph Breaks the Internet. Not the greatest movie but very enjoyable. It pokes fun at Disney itself at a few points.

Agree. And packs more of an emotional punch than I expected.

Also, apparently there were some good post credits scenes that I missed.

Not poking fun at all, but you seem to go to the movies A LOT. How many movies do you think you see at a theater per month? What's your food/beverage of choice?

Since having a kid, I rarely make it anymore except Star Wars, Dunkirk, and Overlord.

Ever since getting Moviepass last year (and now Amc A-list), I probably average about 4-6 movies a month. I usually go once a weekend, twice if there's two movies I want to see that weekend.

Though most of September/October was slow and there were several weekends of nothing.

And I never buy concessions.

Just for fun, decided to do box office predictions for Disney's full 2019 slate, both domestic and worldwide. Will be interesting to see how close I get.

Movie----------------Dom Prediction-----WW Prediction
Captain Marvel----$265,000,000---------$800,000,000
Dumbo---------------$200,000,000---------$650,000,000
Avengers 4----------$675,000,000---------$2,000,000,000
Aladdin---------------$375,000,000---------$1,075,000,000
Toy Story 4----------$485,000,000---------$1,185,000,000
The Lion King-------$685,000,000---------$1,800,000,000
Artemis Fowl--------$150,000,000---------$300,000,000
Frozen 2-------------$500,000,000----------$1,500,000,000
Episode IX-----------$650,000,000---------$1,600,000,000

Total------------------$3,985,000,000------$10,910,000,000

What's crazy is I'm fairly sure I erred on the conservative side with some of these, and the WW total would still be nearly $11B.

Artemis Fowl is a total dark horse, hence the very conservative prediction.

TS4 is tough to call. It'll obviously be huge, but I was surprised that TS3 didn't break $500M domestically, after adjusting for inflation. So, kept that one about on par with 3.

I may have overshot Frozen 2 , but I feel like the first one was such a global smash hit that it's bound to be huge.

Ep IX was the toughest. TFA was so massive, but TLJ fell considerably from that. It's tough to say if it'll continue on the downward trend, or if there'll be a spike since it's the big finale. (As well as the return of JJ.) So I just went down the middle between the two. Guess we'll see.

Hell yes finally!!!!

I remember reading the first book for school and loved it so much read it from beginning to end in one day.

Always thought to myself this should be a movie! Here we are almost 20 years later and it's finally happening.

Obviously there will be booms and busts here, but that's a real solid over/under starting point. I'll guess:
CM - over
Dumbo - over
Avengers - under
Aladdin - under
TS4 - over
Lion King - over
AF - under
Frozen 2 - over
SW IX - over

Edit: guessing domestic totals only.

Is this some property I have never heard of? Or is it something original ?

Apparently it's based on a series of books. The name sounded familiar enough that I figured it was an existing IP, but I know nothing about it.
