What will be the biggest summer blockbuster of 2026?
How about a trade to send a future Hall of Famer to Tinsletown?
On Monday, the Cleveland Browns and Los Angeles Rams produced a headline-stealing trade that sees Myles Garrett join forces with Sean McVay and Matthew Stafford on the West Coast.
Adam Schefter, Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero were the first to report the news that the Aggie legend is on the move.
The return is expected to be Pro Bowl edge rusher Jared Verse, a 2027 first-round pick and other draft-pick compensation that is still being negotiated, according to Schefter.
In nine seasons with the Browns, Garrett accumulated 125.5 sacks in 134 games and twice won the NFL’s Defensive Player of the Year Award.
Perhaps his best season came in 2025 when the former No. 1 overall pick set the league’s single-season sack record with 23.0, breaking the previous high-water mark of 22.5 shared by Michael Strahan and T.J. Watt...and Garrett did that during his age 30 season.
While he repaid the Dog Pound for a sizable offseason investment, the Arlington native had previously expressed interest in leaving Cleveland. After a 3-14 record in 2024, Garrett requested a trade, but the Browns instead inked him to a four-year, $160 million extension on March 9, 2025, which makes this move all the more puzzling.
Nevertheless, Garrett now joins an ensemble cast that features 2025 All-Pros Matthew Stafford and Puka Nacua on offense and Pro Bowler Byron Young. Last fall, the Rams went 12-5 in the regular season and finished second in the NFC West, ultimately falling to Carolina in the wild card round.
A&M fans will remember his decorated three-year career in College Station, in which he recorded 32.5 sacks and 48.5 TFLs en route to first-team All-American honors in 2015 and 2016.
Now with the stars of LA, the spotlight on Garrett will be at its brightest as everyone wonders whether or not this blockbuster will end happily...
...and Super Bowl LXI will be played at SoFi Stadium, aka “Rams House.”
