This thread just made me realize how mind numbing the debate it going to be, year after year. Oscar pundits debating who made it in and who was left out is one thing. But Lord help us when when it's hard core Star Wars Fans, Marvel fans, and DC fans not only arguing amongst themselves, but raising a stink in the broader conversations, creating petitions, etc.

But Black Panther is already a shoe-in for a Best Picture nomination. I don't agree in terms of quality, as I didn't think it was all that great (comparatively), but there's absolutely no way it's not nominated. Every Oscar pundit agrees on this point. So why is that not enough?
