it obviously Luke will rise from the dead and Zombie Luke will wreak havoc on the first Order, dead and undead enemies alike.

I don't understand why people don't consider Kylo Ren a Skywalker. Sure, he doesn't actuallly have the name, but he's just as much a Skywalker as Luke was.

I agree that Kylo is a Skywalker, but he's not as much one as Luke was. Luke's got 1/2 Skywalker DNA, Kylo only has 1/4th.

that's like saying John F. Kennedy Jr is 1/64 (or whatever the ratio is) because his parents and grandparents aren't siblings.

Kylo is a Skywalker, like his mother before him.

I'm not saying he isn't a Skywalker

Rise of Skywalker does not have to be literal.

Agreed, but IMO the movies have always given us black and white / simple answers. It's never as complicated as our fanboy theories.

In this case, the title is clear and they aren't going to give the general audience a convoluted explanation... a Skywalker will rise to help defeat the dark side once again.

For now I'll stick with my feelings that it won't be a Solo or Clone / Spiritual Successor to the Skywalker lineage... it won't even be an Organa... it will be Luke and/or Anakin Skywalker.

Since Palpatine is a hot topic now, I thought his temptation of Ezra from Rebels would be interesting to watch again.

Just imagine the Rebels' fans audience reaction if they have a 2-second shot of the Ghost cockpit with Hera and Jacen Syndulla flying that mofo in TROS

Sorry for bringing this from 3 pages back, but that is where I last logged in. That skit has been, hands down, the funniest I've ever seen. I have never belly laughed that hard...and it hits me the same every time it gets posted from year to year. Love it!

Triumph's best work is the SW skit followed closely by his Bon Jovi skit.

Well. Do you think the title, "The Last Jedi" is clear to the general audience?

I think they made it pretty clear during the movie. First it was old man Luke, then it was Rey.

Anyway, I think the rise of Skywalker will refer to Anikin and the movie will show Palps plans/method of creating him.

Also I think Luke makes a flesh and blood appearance in the film.

Also, I'm wrong a lot

Same. The pic Muck posted in there scared me away fast. I'm not sure if that was real or not, didn't stay long enough to find out.

You talking about the pic with Matt Smith as a young, dead Palpatine on Naboo, with Rey standing over him, lightsaber ignited?

"The Rise of Skywalker"... this is an even more curious title now having seen the trailer... ain't no Skywalkers anywhere. Leia sorta counts, but we all know her role will be minor.

So why the title?

My personal hope is that both Luke and Anakin Rise to finally defeat the emperor. They both need redemption for choices made as well as some writer/director choices that didn't sit well with fans.

If the emperor can somehow rise from the dead, then the Skywalkers can rise to meet him.

The most popular ongoing theory is that it's not referencing an actual character (or characters). Rather, it becomes the new replacement term for "Jedi" going forward. Though, if true, it'd probably make more sense if the title was "Rise of the Skywalker," so who knows. Either way, seeing as the final trailer focuses more on Rey than any other character, especially Kylo, I can't see the title being about him. I agree that he obviously *is* a Skywalker, but that would be weird to name the movie after someone who doesn't actually have that last name. So if not the Jedi angle or the Kylo angle, then yeah, Luke and Anakin "rising" I guess makes the most sense, even though we already saw them do just that together at the end of ROTJ to defeat Palpatine the first time. It would feel kind of redundant to go that route again here. The only other angle I can think of is if Rey somehow ends up being a Skywalker as well, but at this point that would feel pretty cheap to me.

I have to admit, there's not a single satisfying avenue I can think of in which the title makes sense.

What if part of the story is explaining Anakin's origins and then how the Skywalkers fulfilled the prophecy of bringing balance to the force? Ending with Rey starting the new order named after them? IDK what explanation would be satisfying....but if there was one....then I would be satisfied haha.

Yeah, they are all some combination of "too obvious" and "just lame"

Hopefully JJ's imagination is better than ours

This is probably dumbed down and simplistic (like me), but I've just been assuming the title refers to Luke. The Last Jedi was Luke and his physical death; the rise of Skywalker is Luke ascending to become one with the force and guide the good guys. Star Wars started with the beginning of Luke's journey; if they're going to wrap this saga up as advertised, it's got to be about the fitting conclusion to Luke's journey, IMHO.
TCTTS

That angle makes the most sense to me for sure, and would be the most satisfying, I think. But if true, it's just the actual wording of the title that bugs me. If "Skywalker" = "Jedi" you wouldn't say "The Rise of Jedi." You would say, "Rise of the Jedi" - or - "Rise of the Skywalker."

i always thought the rise of skywalker happened when Padme showed up one night on Naboo wearing this:

I think an Anakin & Luke duo would be pretty kick ass. I don't picture a physical resurrection, but as force ghosts they could still ball out! TLJ certainly introduced force ghosts / projections interacting with the physical world.

I see it as double redemption... so many fans were disappointed with Anakin in the prequels... and so many were disappointed with Luke in TLJ. I think they deserve their moment!

But, it will definitely all be secondary to whatever Rey and Kylo/Ben are doing. This is definitely their story... but if a middle age force ghost of Hayden Christensen and Young CG face Luke want to make an appearance and kick some ass, let's go then!
