About 20 years ago when I was covering HS sports, I had a brilliant photo of a coach holding the starter's gun for the relay race up to his face trying to look inside and see what was wrong with it. Reminds me of that kid.

Off the wall Dark Rey theory....

There is talk of Rey being a clone. What if she was a twin and someone stole Rey and hid her on Jakku to keep her from the dark side. SW likes to use themes. We've had the twin thing before. Why not again?

Observations from my 8 year old (who's a big SW fan)

1. He said the music at the very end of this trailer (the last several seconds where it's just a few keys) reminded him of music he remembered hearing as Rey was walking down the hallway towards Luke's lightsaber.....I have no recollection of this but thought I'd share

2. The scene in the desert showing our hero's overlooking a big settlement of people that are unknown to us currently,...he observed some things and said that some of the flags/items in the sky match some things in The Clone Wars tv show where some "pirates" live

Not sure on either of these but figured I'd share just in case.

So we re-watched the scene from TFA with Rey finding the saber....did NOT hear that music in that scene.

However, realized one of the quick clips from the trailer today was actually where Maz reaches out to hold Rey's hand after having the vision. Interesting that they selected that for this trailer.

It happened so fast I had thought it was Leia's hand.....

The clip is incredibly awesome. My thought the Sith Rey is just a smoke screen. Either:
1) 'Good' Rey is going to fight a 'Sith Rey' clone of herself after her and Kylo fight
2) 'Sith Rey' is just a Dagobah type vision 'Good' Rey has

No matter what, I'm confident Rey is a clone.

Ps - I think the switch blade lightsaber is kind of cheesy. I know they are trying to step things up, but if you ask me, it kind of falls flat. The stiff movements and sickly look (as opposed to evil) probably don't help much

I am thinking Dark-Rey is Rey.0 who the emperor cloned from Luke's own hand ... the Emperor's "Hand" who later cloned herself and infiltrated her clone into Luke's Jedi Academy, or who the emperor cloned for his own reasons.

And Rey.X is who we know as the character Rey... it would explain:
1. Rey's innate ability in the force
2. Rey's vision on Ahch-to
3. Rey's immediate draw to the Darkside Pit on Ahch-to during her lesson #1 from Luke
4. Rey's fighting style (at least to me) reminding me of Sidious' big overhead thrusts

So Rey is the Clone of a Clone of Luke (her parents are nobody). And Kylo knows both Rey.0 from before (perhaps part of the Knights of Ren?) and that is why he wants to know who Rey.X is...

Anyhoo... Dark Rey.0 looks like an OLDER (and thinner and sexier) version of Rey.X. Except she may be as bald as Sinead O'Connor under there....

They teased dark side Rey a bunch before TLJ as well.

It's not happening because 1) I don't see how the story could work in a way casual fans would grasp (0.00001% of people have the Star Wars knowledge of the folks on this thread) and 2) my 11 year old daughter LOVES Rey, and Disney isn't throwing that money away.

She's the Luke of this generation, but instead of Lucas shutting it down for 30 years and leaving all the stories to fan fiction, Disney will squeeze every last dollar out of the new cast for the next decade.
