Do we know there actually was a terrorist threat? I figured someone just paid off the pilot to say that there was.

Really great article on the composer of the Succession score, one of the best TV scores in years...

I feel like Logan had to have found out with the weird little dinner with Kendall, it felt like he was giving him a warning that he knew something was up, without spelling it out. Perhaps Ewan told him, or it was back channeled to him, but I don't think that he was blindsided by this act. With his back and forth with the president maybe he got a favor, like getting the air shut down when his kid was going for it. At least that's what I want to have happened, I want the self made billionaire to basically illustrate how his kids will take the company from him over his dead body. Which that's a pretty strong play, I knew what you did and I had the air shut down over NYC, try me again. Kendall went big, not big enough to take down Logan, and I loved it. Maybe Lawrence told him for all we know.

Except that Logan seemed pretty blindsided in the meeting itself. His behavior in the moment didn't indicate that he had any advanced knowledge.

I think his brother showing up blindsided him, no?

Logan was blindsided, but because he's a badass billionaire that made his life being a predator, he immediately instinctively battled his way out by intimidating the F out of everyone in the room. The NY airspace thing was nothing more than a convenient plot device, not a conspiracy, etc

Yeah, but beyond that, Logan seemed genuinely surprised that the vote was going down, kept asking "What's going on here?" prior to that, and seemed legitimately confused toward the beginning of the meeting when everyone was stalling.

That's what I'm thinking at this point.

Yeah this really hasn't been the conspiracy type show.

The terror threat was established earlier in the episode when Logan wasn't able to see the President.

But if I was understanding correctly, the person Kendall went to go meet went from a likely non-call-in/abstain to a vote in Kendall's favor... So while the terror threat kept him from being in the room to keep the troops from collapsing, it also got a vote in his favor that still might have done the trick had Roman not folded.

I don't really understand that side of things though. Had Roman been put on the spot earlier in the voting and forced to cast a vote without knowing 100% if it would go Kendall's way then I could see him not being able to handle the pressure... But he keeps his hand up he gets what he wants 100%. He lowers it, while he's not officially "going against his Dad", his Dad sure as hell knows that he was plotting but just not man enough to pull it off... which based on how Logan treated him earlier in the season basically affirms his fathers feelings that he's a coward and unfit for anything important.

It was a mix of ****ups and weakness. Kendall shouldn't have called the ill board member to begin with (he hesitated at first because he/Frank were worried about stirring things up that would get her to call in). Because he's weak and ends up calling, the daughter gets suspicious which ensures she's going to call in, and he has to do damage control to make sure her vote goes to him vs. Logan. In the end, yeah, he got her vote. But his absence from the meeting ensures that Logan is able to stay in the room and roll over Roman. So what should have been +1 in his favor if Kendall doesn't have to make the trip (Roman for + ill board absent) turns into a net 0 (Roman against + ill board for). Now technically, it seemed that just cost them a tie vs a loss, which with either one, Logan wins. It was just part of the total misplay, which when combined with a bad read on the cokehead and letting Roman **** up the Lawrence play, cost them overall.

Watching Blade Runner 2049 for the 100th time and I just realized that the one-eyed woman leading the resistance/replicant "army" is Marcia.

Different setting and no Greg, but still going strong.

Some top notch acting this episode. Maybe a bit on the slower side.

I had a feeling things were going to go south in the meth house, glad it didn't. Kendall singing in the car was pretty funny.

Yep. Different pace/tone tonight for sure, but still great.

Also, HBO sure does like ending episodes lately by revealing a character's back scars...

Thought it was another good episode, but I'm afraid we're now reaching the point where every character on the show is just an unlikable (yet entertaining) person, which can be hard for a show long-term.

Someone HAS to emerge as the redemption story and/or lovable anti-hero, no?

At this point, my money would be on either Greg or Roman.

Also, the more I see of Logan, the more I side with Kendall. Logan is just a piece of **** to his children.

This may sound random, but yeah, I could even see a slight Tyrion Lannister vibe emerging from Greg or Roman. I remember hating Tyrion early in season one and now he's basically the most sympathetic character on the show.

I am assuming the scars are supposed to be from his childhood? Only reason I question is the appearance of the scars looks too recent (but maybe I'm being a picky healthcare professional). Only other thing would be some self abuse or abuse from his wife.

They basically referred to his uncle being abusive, so I assume it's childhood from that.

I'm going to go with abuse by Marcia.

Marcia's phoning in terrorist threats. Marcia's pulling the strings. Marcia's abusing Logan.

I feel like you guys are watching a different show than I am. This isn't '24'.

Went back and read a recap of last night's episode. Couple of interesting things...

I had forgotten this, but earlier in the episode they're talking about going for a swim but the kids mention that Logan doesn't swim. But the episode ends with him swimming.

The author of the recap mentions re: the scars on Logan's back are presumed to have been the result of the fight with his Uncle he mentions earlier during therapy. But I agree with another poster that the scars look too fresh. I think they came from Marcia.

And one of the most biting remarks from Logan was when he said Shiv was marrying beneath her with Tom standing right there. I think this comment will drive a stake between Tom and Shiv and will lead her to the sack with Nate.

I think the Nate affair bridge has already been crossed. At a minimum, she let him fingerbang her which already crosses it on its own. And then given it was night when she drove back, I'm guessing there's a good chance she decided to take Nate up on his offer to go back to his place for full out banging

Ok, trying to rewatch episode. I still didn't see a reference to a fight/abuse between Uncle and Logan. When does it happen? Are we still talking about episode 7? And "a fight"? Who fights like that? Obviously it would be more than a typical fight to leave those kind of scars. Sorry guys, if someone could tell me when the reference is, I will be able to sleep at night. thanks and gig em
