You could possibly be right, except that absolutely everything from this film has looked completely badass so far. I don't know that I've anticipated a Marvel film more than this since some of the first movies.

Those are not surprising reviews to see out, considering the racial makeup of the movie. No one wants to be the guy to come out and say one of the first real black superhero movies is bad, or mediocre. The mob at large would just label him a racist.

However, I liked the character and the actor, and I think there are a lot of other pretty good actors in this, so I am very optimistic.

Just my opinion as far as how seriously to take any of these reviews, is all.

Sadly this. Im sure releasing it in Black History Month is just a coincidence. It will end up with good reviews just like Wonder Woman for the same reason.

That being said, I'm looking forward to seeing it.

Glad to see the first reactions are positive.

Also, I'm very hesitant to watch the new Super Bowl trailer. Do I need to see more at this point? What about spoilers..?

Uncomfortable, but not wrong. They can't afford for this one to be mediocre, and to think otherwise is obtuse.

I fully expect it to be an excellent movie in its own right (much like WW) but you will likewise see people clamoring for an Oscar. Excellent movie, yes. Worthy of one of the 5 best of the year, unlikely. The racial makeup of the movie will have an impact, whether you want to believe it or not.

A few people are just saying they have reservations about the reviews, because of what is stated by the reviewers themselves. Why is that such a problem for a few on this board? If people see the movie and think it feels political, that's going to be talked about - it is unavoidable from either end of the spectrum.

From my experience, a few reviewers always overstate this and find their political opinions in the most innocuous things (Rogue One anyone?).

I'm not even against movies having political or social messages, and I'm not a Trump Puppet (no puppet)

I'm just cynical about "reviews" on Twitter being genuine or actually relevant about the quality of a movie, and I happened to be browsing the forums when he posted a lot. Sorry if it detailed the thread, I'll be seeing the movie sometime it's opening weekend, can't wait to see some amazing visuals and crazy action

I do think this movie will end up with 95% or something crazy on Rotten tomatoes, and it won't purely be about quality. Much like the undeserved love for Luke Cage. Loved him in JJ and defenders and the first half of his own season but god that ending.

Reviewers only got the first 6 episodes of Luke Cage, so I don't blame the reviewers on that one because the first half of Luke Cage is still my favorite Netflix show. The second half makes the season as a whole my second to least favorite.

First half was really good.
Best thing about the second half was some of the music.

No one will be allowed to even think anything negative about this movie.

As I stated earlier, I also really enjoyed Black Panther's introduction in Civil War and am really looking forward to this movie. But not because of some off-screen statement this movie might be making. I don't give a crap about any of that. I happen to think the character is awesome and just expect a good movie centered on BP. The "give it a rest" and "sigh" comments are going to come with this movie, as are the statements that are far more racially offensive and hateful. I'm going to ignore that crap as much as I can but if that stuff is in the movie, then it will be impossible to ignore. And I'll likely hate the movie for that. Just tell us a good story that lives up to Marvel's standards, and let all that other garbage alone.

Los Angeles Times reporter Jen Yamato described Black Panther as "a superhero movie about why representation & identity matters, and how tragic it is when those things are denied to people.

What's the hassle? Buy ticket online and show-up to theater?

My problem is I used to always pick opening night, because I thought it was the greatest chance of no talking little kids. But, apparently some parents don't mind taking their 4 year old to a Marvel or Star Wars movie at 7:30 pm on a Thursday.

Why can't it be a killer action movie that means more or different things to some people than others?

While it may not mean anything to you personally, for some people it's a really big deal to see someone who looks like them represented on screen in a key role. And personally I think that's awesome.

No doubt. I like Tom Cruise movies, because I'm a short white dude with strange viewpoints who wants to imagine I can do badass stunts. Nobody in this life should be robbed of that joy.

Yep. I try and see these kinds of movies on Thursday nights thanks to reserved seating.

However, I was too late for this one. One day after tickets went on sale, the 7pm XD screening here in B/CS was almost sold out. I'm having to wait until Saturday at 1:30 to get my usual seats for myself and my two boys.

I just generally don't like crowds and waiting. People are inconsiderate and rude, and it pisses me off, and I don't like getting pissed off.

I don't shop at Wal-Mart for the same reason.

Right, and with reserved seating you don't wait and good theaters don't tolerate inconsiderate people.
