I wouldn't worry about renewal - the numbers are good enough to justify being picked up by a streaming service even if the network does not renew.

Shows with less followings - and less cult like following have been picked up that way.

Amazon saved the expanse. My favorite series on tv right now.

Preview for next week didn't even hint at any consequences from it so I wonder if it is simply a different timeline at that point and case is closed.

oddly - it appeared it was a scene from this week when they met and were looking at each other - but the fact that they put that in there was interesting.

I guess I missed that completely will have to rewatch.

The episode is called the Road Not Taken and the tag line for it by fox says the crew have to deal with the consequences of her actions

Well the thing that got me curious was the Kaylons kept locating them pretty easily.

Even ignoring that aspect we've got some interesting stuff..... just thinking through some other effects of her going back and remembering what she discovered - if that plays out until the present as we know it now. Could jump to a present based on that timeline in which a lot has changed:

• Will Kelly end up as captain - armed with all the knowledge of future events from Kelly's logs.
• And Mercer was driven when he was young, but the divorce derailed him - so underailed I guess he still makes captain too? He only got the Orville because he flopped and then Kelly put in a word for him so....who knows now?
• Will Kelly have an effect on their preparation for dealing with the Kaylon in the initial encounter?
• Will the Union be more militarized as a result?
• Will it be a less fun Orville ship overall

Very interested to see.......

I guess this means we find out that it didn't create another timeline?

It's possible Kelly recommenddd Ed for the job because she knew how great a captain he would be, and by not having the relationship in the past that would allow them to try in the future.

As far as how they were able to locate them, I have a feeling they will gloss over that and just used this as a reminder that the Kaylons are the enemy so we still fear them going into the season finale.

This is such a great show. I'm disappointed it's already time for the season finale. I hope they don't have another delayed off season. But if that is what it takes to get this quality of FX, l'll wait.

I don't know if anyone mentioned this but - just ran across the ST:TNG episode Second Chances yesterday. Had kinda forgotten about that episode except for the fact of there being 2 rikers.

Lots of similarities.

They go to an abandoned planet and a base there = where riker had led an evacuation 8 years before. and they run into another riker who was created when the beam out of Riker had some difficulty due to a "disruption field" making beaming in and out nearly impossible except during specific windows of opportunity. and it like reflected the image of Riker when the transporter on the Potemkin like mirrored the image or something (complex ST mumbo jumbo).

Anyway that Riker is still very much in love with Troi and was alone for 8 years basically on the base surviving. He is still a Lt. and the Rikers have conflicts over some issues especially the task at hand - recovering some data from the base. the more senior rikr ends up saving the younger and more daring Riker who had a better plan but gets trapped. they reconcile and then the other Riker is reassigned somewhere and takes the name Thomas Riker to distinguish himself.

Actually I thought this was closer to ST: Voyager's "Timeless" (season 5, episode 6). Except that Orville did it better imo. The cold open on an ice/frozen planet, series ship crashes on the surface of a planet and not directly accessible, and ship they were on is destroyed while trying to alter the timeline.

This was a fun season. That finale had everything. I'm not sure about the science checking out on some those things, but it had everything!

Science definitely didn't check out completely. That slightly annoyed me as it was a "we're going to only use science that we think will fit the narrative." However, other than that, loved it.

So one thing bugged me - unless I missed something.

So the Orville was "destroyed" by the Kaylons and they used it for how they invaded earth. They said that the captain abandoned ship and all the escape pods got out because it was so damaged it could not fly.....

And then they went 6 miles down, found it intact and water tight, simply powered it on rebooted and it flew perfectly fine. WTH?!?!?!!!?

Other than some other minor suspension of disbelief and how rapidly it wrapped it - it was pretty damn good. Enjoyed the way they resolved it actually and it was a good season ender. I always enjoy alternate realities and this was no exception.

When will we find out if the shows been renewed? I will be really upset if it gets cancelled. No clue on if a streaming service would (or could) pick it up... I think I've read somewhere in the past that McFarlene and Fox have some sort of exclusivity contract or something to that effect regarding TV shows

Well the entire show is all PC and almost apologetic about most of it, but it's still good. Seth is a big time lib tool IRL, but love him on the show.
