Omg this new episode is even worse. I didn't expect bran to warg into dragon so quickly. it is stupid that Arya found Gendry's rowboat, make no sense. And Jon and Tormond found crasters baby lair, come on.

Anyone watching the documentary? Varys looked pissed at his death

I can't imagine that anybody would be happy about being burned alive by a dragon

Great reactions in that table read.

Emilia looks like she's feeling legit guilty next to Conleth.

Bit early to say but this looks like the best episode of the season so far

It was awesome seeing Vladimir Furdik interact with the fans in Spain. He was genuinely so excited and happy to be recognized.

There's some really hilarious visuals here. Like the wights sitting on a bench eating craft services food, or Bran and the Night King just hanging out in a tent.

upon rewatch of the finale I don't think it was as awful as i first thought it was.

my overall impression of the show is that it was an excellent show even through the 2nd to last season , and then in the last season it was so so rushed, that they had to force an ending that wasn't perfect which definitely took away from the overall show quality. the last season imho was decent. not awful, not good but just decent. but a show as great as this, with this kinda run, deserved more than "decent" I think we can all agree on.

In horse racing terms I think GoT and Breaking Bad imo were neck and neck with BB having a slight lead all along, and then in that last season...BB just pulled away down the stretch for an easy win for greatest show of all time.

One thing last night really got across is just how difficult and complex it was to execute the final season (and the same could be said for season 7), especially on the budget and timeline they had. How much they did and the time they did it in is very remarkable. Problem was the depth of story did suffer as a result. But holy smoke, what an ambitioius project.

There was and should be a lot of discontent among fans and the actors - but in the end it was a great ride and the first 7 seasons will hold up very well over time. Frankly, i'll just skip 8-4 and 8-6, pretend they never happened, and consider it brilliant. Ending it at 5 honestly preserves the 'theme' of the show perfectly, imo.

I think its a better ending than 6 wrapped up, even if 6 had been executed decently.

Many people will skip 5 too, just because they cant get their head around genocide as the logical conclusion of the 'game' and are pissed that the most complex, interesting character in a fantastic show went that route. And i cant blame them one bit.

Game of Thrones overall was a MUCH better show than Breaking Bad and it's no contest. Do you see anyone lining up to make prequels and sequels to Breaking Bad?

**** no.

Breaking Bad was a good show; a great show. GoT even with the warts at the end; is the ****ing FRANCHISE!

You might be trolling but BB has a spin-off prequel called Better Call Saul and it's one of the best shows on TV.

I just finished the documentary, and I agree! I even see how they could have accidentally left coffee cups and water bottles in scenes. Those people were already so exhausted and then the huge storm made the time crunch even worse. And they sounded much more relieved than sad when it was over (except for that cool Stark extra).

No, it's not. It's about as meh as a show can get.

Comparing Game of Thrones to BB? Even GRRM talked about the invincibility of BB when the shows overlapped.

SIAP, but how would people feel if Jorah had lived and became part of the reason why Dani went crazy? Overall, I like him dying better, but I think questioning the loyalty of her closest advisor would have contributed to explaining her turn.

I don't know. As I stated I'm in S2 right now and Dany is at Quarth. She loses her cool and threatened to "burn the city to the ground" no less than 2-3 times in S2 alone. It's Jorah that calms her down mostly.

She's not this super compassionate person that I gave her credit for. She reminds me of a SJW in today's politics...at least up to this point in S2. Compassion is present but If you're not with her ideology, she will go scorched earth...literally and figuratively.

Exactly.

It was always there - they did a poor rushed job of showing the descent but...

from her point of view:
she basically sacrificed a dragon to enlist KL/Cersei and it amounted to nothing
Jorah died
Tyrion kept failing her and betrayed her at least twice
she lost another dragon
Missandei was killed
Varys betrayed her
even Grey Worm became overly hostile bent on revenge
and then Jon betrayed her and rejected her

add in the lack of any appreciation from anyone in Westeros and it was a recipe for disaster.

that's why there are those of us who say she always reacted with fire and blood. then her advisers would check her just enough to keep her from going over the edge. it was easier to judge her actions against other worse people as just but she also repeatedly threatened to do exactly what she did in the end - she always had to be talked into not doing it that way. and then all her advisers were either gone or she did not trust them.

that video comparing her to Cersei was one of the most intriguing. it showed her repeatedly threatening to do that and the way that she was raised and thought of herself as special (even god like) fed that ego.

the ends don't justify the means to a rational person - but she wasn't necessarily rational she had always just been held in check until the end.

I think there are distinctions for so many of her prior scenes though. For instance, for Qarth, she and her people were dying in the Red Waste. She thought she'd be welcomed, but they chose to "receive" her outside the gates. Then she had to deal with the spice trader.

She could have just let them see her dragons, but maybe she was skeptical of their intentions. One could make the argument that she was protecting herself and her people in any way possible. She used threats as a last resort when they said they wouldn't allow her to enter.

Not sure that changes much for me - trying to just make it where Jorah is another betrayal effectively siding with Tyrion on some things and trying to keep her in check. But I think his absence as a voice of reason also was a big impact on her descent - probably bigger imho.

I think I still prefer the way it is with his ending at BOW - but with more exposition on the betrayals and her mental state leading up to the battle. Just showing more definitive evidence like these few things:

1. knowing Tyrion released Jamie (before the battle)
2. if Varys letters got out and she knows most of Westeros is now against her
3. and/or knowing Varys tried to poison her
4. seeing Jamie with Cersei as the bells rang

would have made it completely buyable.
