This show went from exceptional to just okay popcorn entertainment once they lost the source material. Season 7 was forgettable and this one was truly bad.

For the record, Jon Snow would have made a terrible King of the Seven Kingdoms.

Did anyone notice the blade of grass sticking out of the snow north of the Wall? I guess winter is truly over and the free folk will have a nice country to live in soon.

Maybe Bran slower morphs into the supreme intelligence and what we're seeing is actually a kree origin story.

Before tonight I said the only thing wrong with the last two seasons was that they were too rushed. The writers ruined everything trying to "surprise " us.

So does Bran continue to use his omnipotent vision to creep on Sansa some more?

Pod: "Your grace, the small council awaits your presence."

Bran: "Not now Pod. I told you, I need to find Drogon." ::Bran goes into his vision, pupils turn white, birds rush to the towers at Winterfell, where Lady Sansa, warden of the North, is showering::

So for the last three or four episodes it's been all about how Jon is not only the rightful heir but is the one most fit for it. But he's not even mentioned in the "choose a king" party just because Torgo Nudo, did I spell that right (seriously, Davos has never even attempted to say his name before now?) won't allow it?

I mean seriously, either have the Unsullied revenge kill Jon or make him king.

I won't say that it's not a good ending for Jon, but the setup to that was abysmal.

HI still cant really believe that in a show filled with some of the worst **********s, they made one of their 8 season long protagonists into Hitler. I understand the turn, but did it need that kind of oomph?
She was always vengeful. Tyrion was spot on in his assessment. Violent means to an end. They didn't change Dany at all. Many tyrannical persons can be good in some ways too. It's weird, but true.

Many missed it or can't understand it.
So you think the writers were going for a "but Nazis did good things too like Dany" comparison. Doubtful.

I understand her heel turn, and what she became and the reasons why. But the show went out of their way in this episode to ascribe Nazi imagery to her down to the banners, being at the top of the steps, the foreign language, the words she was saying about basically literally conquering the world for its own good, the images they showed of her troops etc. they filmed a Nazi rally and did it intentionally. It was "Dany Targaryen=Hitler"

Edit: I'm not talking what happens within the show, I'm saying that's a pretty ****ty way for them to treat their character. We watched the show, she wasn't Hitler. So why do that?

Can you imagine how people who named their daughters after her must feel?

Thought it was a decent ending. Not great and not terrible. Was a much happier ending than I expected.

Kinda this. Basically just like the last 2 seasons for me. Not completely satisfying (aka a little disappointing), but not the worst ending of all time as some are claiming.

The good:
-Jon & Ghost. I assume King in the North was his most desired outcome, but going North was 2nd.
-Brienne & Pod being in the Kingsguard, and Brienne filling in Jaime's pages.
-The new Small Council: Tyrion being hand, Davos surviving, Sam being Archmaester (maybe too soon to be Grand Maester?), etc.

Just ok:
-Arya going west.
-Bran ruling. I think I'll like this more in the books if we ever get them. Bran as a character is just better overall and more human still (although his story hasn't gotten past the cave yet where he went full robot).

The disappointing:
-Sansa ruling the North. Hate her smugness and the way she has done things the whole time. As someone else mentioned, she really ****ed the North at the BoB before saving those that were left at the last minute. Will she marry and have the guy take the Stark name?
-Dany. Really wished we would have seen some remorse even if she was still going to press on to crazy town. In the end, burning KL wasn't about ruling by fear anyway. It was about "liberating" the people. I expect her turn to be handled better in the books (again assuming we get both).
-Not seeing where Drogon goes or what he does (Valyria I guess?).
-No Jon = Aegon reveal to the world.
-No boobs. D&D include Ghost, but they left out one of the most critical elements of the show's success.

Way too many issues with the ultimate outcome of this series.

- So they choose a king whose house is no longer part of the kingdom, and the other lords are just perfectly cool with this? Not only that, they allow two of his siblings now apart of the seceded kingdom to vote in his favor? Not only are the lords cool with that, they somehow allow the North to secede in the first place. And then despite the king clearly showing that he will put up no fight against those that want to secede, they all decide to just let him rule over them despite nearly every kingdom wanting to secede during at least one point in the series.

- They allow an individual (Grey Worm) who is not even part of the seven kingdoms to dictate punishment of Jon Snow. This individual along with the rest of his brethren then just bounce before the sentence is actually carried out, meaning that Bran and the others have absolutely no reason to uphold their promise.

- Why do they keep screwing with Bran's abilities? He goes from not being able to see the future to suddenly he knows he going to be named king?

- Why would the wildlings just happen to be waiting for Jon at the wall to suddenly show up and lead them across? (I'm sure someone will claim that Bran told them or some hand waving comment like that). Despite multiple people claiming that there is clearly no more nightswatch, there were clearly Crows escorting Jon to the North. Is the explanation that this was some gigantic ruse that Bran somehow foresaw with his new future sight that he has never demonstrated before which might have been helpful at preventing the destruction of kings landing?

Yeah no he basically just killed Drogon's mom. There is no Targaryen magic that should have saved him there.

The problem is that they killed the best character in the history of the show. You can't introduce a bar like Ramsay Bolton and expect to be able to do well without it.

Sitting down and making a broad outline of season 7&8, I don't blame any of the major decisions.

Bran as king, fine.
Queen of the North Sana'a, fine.
Mad queen Dany, fine.
Jon exiled North, fine.
Arya kills the Night King, fine.
Jon as Aegon Targaryan as heir doesn't matter, fine (that's consistent with the theme of the show at least)

I just didn't think they did a very good executing. How hard is it to spend more than 1 episode showing a broken Dany turn mad? The long night over in 1 episode and no epic close up fights with a White Walker and a bunch of red shirts die? Tyrion gave a great speech but maybe show Bran actually making ruler worthy decisions at Winterfell instead of being a WTF moment. $15M per episode and we spend 20 minutes drinking around a campfire instead of developing the plot to a more coherent end?!?? How the hell are that many unsullied and Dothraki still alive?

This could have been great TV arriving at a satisfactory conclusion. The writers made crap choices and none of the 'twists' made sense. There were logical inconsistencies.

Great show, lost it's mojo at the end, 7/10 would watch again.

Okay, dumb fan question. The Night's Watch is stationed at the Wall, but they journeyed North where the Walkers and Wildlings came from, right? If so, seemed to me that Jon wasn't going to join the NW as commanded, but was leading everyone to start a new kingdom.

Series geeks can now destroy me for being clueless.
The ending is ambiguous but I interpret this to be Jon becoming KBtW

Told my wife that Aegon/Jon was going to somehow find Ygritte's younger, hotter sister that she never mentioned, and set up shop inside a more luxurious sex cave.

My only complaint are the Stark girls, Sansa's arguement for Northern Independance was stupid especially since a Stark was crowned king and Arya's crew is going to starve when they run out of food. That just seemed like a cheap "girl power!" at the end.

Yeah, reality is that there are some lords in the 6 kingdoms that won't be happy with this at all, push back, and ultimately Bran gets rolled off a cliff into Blackwater Bay. But that also plays into Tyron's "check back with me in 10 years"

This is really only a temporary happy ending in the world of GOT that we got to know.

I was sort of hoping this might happen...

Jon leads his followers North (is that where the children of the forest were?). There's one children of the forest who comes out and attacks Jon, stabbing in the heart, Jon dies...

Only to open them and his eyes be blue.

The end.

Meh, naming your children based on a television show/movie is always iffy. Just saying. Too trendy too. Why do you think there's so many Elsa's and Anna's right now. Not that they aren't beautiful names, but...

Depends on your age, too. When I was growing up I always thought the name Scarlett was so pretty but because gone with the wind was still so popular back in the 70s and 80s that's what most people thought of. Now people think of Scarlett Johansson so it's not that big of a deal.

Of course Darth never really caught on.
