Well season 7 was pretty positive. It won't be some Disney ending, but I think it will land better than people might expect.
I think that anyone that is expecting GOT to end with the Night's King sitting the throne, or Cersei winning, or the Stark's being eradicated, or any other crazy "insert Ramsey taunting Theon gif" might be disappointed. Likewise, anyone expecting Jon and Dany to live happily ever after with some baby dragons on the way ..well moot point because no one expects that.
I think their will be quite a few characters killed, including some of the primary roles. I think that order of things in Westeros is going to be forever changed. But I have also come to think the GRRM didn't provide a whole hell of a lot of details past what he outlined for the Winds of Winter and that a lot of the foreshadowing of the no happy ending is over hyped. I think GRRM even somewhat recently kind of softened that rhetoric and said the end would be "bittersweet" or maybe that was one of the actors.

how do you get "all starks living" = happy ending, when many people will be dying before it is all said and done.
and the series done jumped the rails a long time ago. that quote can be assumed to no longer apply.
I guess I was more getting at your view of seemingly thinking nothing more bad would happen to the Starks. While I don't think Arya dies, to say I can't imagine it happening would go a bit too far. I expect Jon will die. I guess I'd say any character dying is on the table and would not surprise me.
