Israeliag, I'm impressed you read the trilogy. I've been slowly reading the first book, just finished, and don't like the style enought to finish. What a dark ending though. I won't spoil it but it should make for good tv. It was a tough read.

I tend to not like science fiction because it almost always casts humanity in the worst possible light. But since an Ag is working on this project, I'll give this series a try.
(Speaking of SF novels, Nova by Samuel Delany is great if anyone is interested.)
Agreed that it was not an easy read, and honestly I wasn't all that happy with the author through parts of the novels. But, I really did appreciate how much it caused me to think about things like consent, choice, benevolence, and identity. The story is great and I can see how it could be better on screen than in writing.
Pretty cool to see. Our director of Dawn with her story of how she became involved with TROS. JJ's call back in the final paragraph, especially, is so good...

As of tonight, our deal with the studio is finally, officially CLOSED. I can't publicly say which studio yet (it's one of the big boys), there's still the lead to formally attach, a writing staff to hire, a green light to eventually garner, and I have no idea when any of this will finally be made public (it could be a while), but the biggest hurdle, after all this time, is finally behind us, and I just had to mark the occasion...

Not to sound weird or corny, but I'm legitimately excited to see this show take off, and in turn, your career.
I know none of us have anything to do with it, but it really feels like "one of us" making it, and it's a great feeling.

I really appreciate that. The fact that, after over FOUR years with this project, everything finally came together in just the right way to find a home of this magnitude, is a obviously massive win, and just getting it this far should do wonders for our company. That said, I have to underline the fact that there are still more hurdles to go, the biggest of which is, again, actually getting the green light to production. In other words, after a bit more development, the project still has to be proven "worthy" of a series order, but with the talent and names involved, along with the high concept nature of the project - knock on wood - we're confident that will happen.
I haven't talked about this yet, but we actually recently set up a movie with this same studio, completely unrelated. A writer has been hired and they're currently churning away on the script. So the fact that our little, four-man company now a has a series and a movie set up with this studio, I think, is really going to turn heads and definitely open bigger doors. I wish I could run through the rest of our slate as well, because we've got some super exciting things happening, with a couple of fairly big names attached. But as slow as this town moves, it's going to be a while before any of it can be finalized or announced. Still, it feels like this year is a turning point, and the year we should be able to officially move forward and announce at least a few of them.

Ha, if I have any say-so in that regard, I'll definitely let you know. That said, with the names involved, in terms of producers, I am absolutely the lowest on the totem pole for this particular project.

Congratulations, TC. I give you a lot of **** on here and vice versa for our difference of opinions, but seeing any Aggie excel is always worth a round of applause and appreciation. Being creative in any format is so very difficult to take on as a career, because most everyone wants to tell you what you're doing wrong, even if they've never done anything similar in their entire lives. To toil away in an industry that seems just miserably cutthroat and like a nonstop roller coaster would wear on most of us to the point where we'd take our ball and go home, so it's a real testament to your character that you've stuck it out and made it to this big moment.
