You have to love Debt. He calls a poster a pvssy because he got emotional in a movie with a character dying of cancer after they personally just lost somebody to cancer, but gets upset at a pseudo f-bomb in a pg-13 movie.

1. Everyone deals with cancer. A poster saying they had to leave GOTG because of Starlord's mother in the prologue, cmon. It's fiction. If it hits close to home it's effective fiction, it's not something to get bent out of shape over.

2. The eff and the "what the *cut*" weren't my concerns as far as language. I'm referring to the shts and assoles. Although the touchy SJW flipping off the protagonist could be considered ASL.

I just think it's funny yall ignore my praise of the film, and invalidate my opinion on the content purely on the basis that you don't agree with it.

I wasn't comparing it to Clerks, but yall seem so hellbent on carrying this films water because you liked it.

I guess the MCU has completely disregarded Spider-Man's spider sense.
Looks like the MCU did not forget about the spider sense at all. It will be in the new Avengers movie.

Hell, there's a quote from the movie you should have used.

During the mid-scene credits, Vulture says he doesn't know Spider-Man's identity. Thoughts on why he says that? I'm thinking one of three possibilities, leaning most toward #3 myself (maybe a combination with #2).

1. Wants the revenge for himself
2. Has respect for Peter after being saved
3. Is afraid that villains will use Liz to get to Peter, so he's protecting his family.

Some combination of 2 and 3, probably. I doubt we will see this villain in another movie except maybe in a cameo.

The guy at the end talking to Vulture in prison?

That was the guy who was buying the guns on the ferry. He's alluded to being the villain, The Scorpion, who looks really silly in the comics if they actually use him... but then again so did The Vulture and they made him badass.

The actor is Nacho from Better Call Saul.

I took it as another "save your life" trade. Peter saved him from the explosion/fire so he saved Peter from the baddie, making them even again.

I could take it a step further. How do villains always go after good guys (especially Spidey)? Their friends and loved ones. If Toomes says "Peter Parker," that puts a whole bunch of teenagers in the line of fire, including his own daughter.

Saw it yesterday and it was great, just about perfect for a Spider-Man movie. Tom Holland was such a good find for this role, and Keaton nailed it as Vulture. Best Spider-Man villain since Doc Ock in Spider-Man 2.

Given the post-credits scene and how awesome they did Vulture I could totally see them making Scorpion a solid present-day villain.

I would say my order for Spider-Man films would be:
1. Spider-Man 2
2. Spider-Man Homecoming
3. Spider-Man
4. The Amazing Spider-Man

I don't think I can rank Spider-Man 3 or The Amazing Spider-Man 2, they both suck too bad that it doesn't matter.

They are making the argument "more cussing = less grossing" thus they are adjusting the gross revenue to have an apples to apples comparison.

I think the exact quote was along the lines of:

"If I knew who SpiderMan was, I would kill him myself."

I thought it was pretty clear that meant he wanted the revenge for himself.

I took it to mean he was covering for Peter. Respeck.

Spider-Man's numbers will take a hit as it's one of the very few superhero films to have immediate competition. I think both Homecoming and Apes cannibalized each other a bit, but we'll see if either are considered disappointments by the end of their runs.

Agreed, I think Apes is probably a bigger reason than any for Homecoming's drop off.

Let me boil down the Flash debate (and I happen to agree with the critics here):

Flash Thompson was supposed to be the jock who was bigger, richer, more handsome and more athletic than Peter. He was everything Peter wasn't and he reminded him of it constantly through physical and verbal intimidation all through high school.

This version of Flash is smaller, less attractive, not athletic and is noticeably dumber (in a school of smart kids) than Peter. There is nothing that this kid has on Peter except almost certainly money. There is zero physical intimidation and, in a school of smart kids where the Academic Decathalon is their biggest "sports" team, he is well below Parker on that squad. In fact, he's well below ever other person on the squad: he's the alternate. If he had been captain, then this whole situation wouldn't exist.

His race has zero to do with it, so shove that "texags is just racist" bullsh*t up your ass. His casting and characterization was a mistake, pure and simple. I have no issues with ANY of the casting or racial identities of any of the other characters, as they didn't make any difference to the story. However, Flash Thompson was wrong for this movie.
That must mean you aren't ok with Aunt May being an AILF...

Finally got to see it and loved it. The overall feel of the movie had a very Spiderman like feel to it. Holland did a great job.

It clicked after the movie why we saw so much iron man in the previews. Yes, he played a role in the movie, but he didn't overtake the show. I think Marvel was doing their best to show this was an actual MARVEL movie. Or an actual "homecoming" if you will.

Only negative to me was Flash (see thread). I don't care about his hair or skin color. Just wished he was more physically intimidating. Feel like the big Asian basketball guy from 13 Reasons Why (don't know his name and don't care to look) would have been a better cast type.

Loved the humor in the movie. Ned and MJ were great.

But the best part was the end where it said Spiderman will return soon!

Just got around to watching it last night and it's easily my favorite movie of the summer. The local, more personal story is something I've been wanting to see more of from marvel for a while (not every movie has to be about saving the world), and for Spider-man's character and the approach they're taking to him, it worked perfect.

I heard an interview earlier this summer with a couple of the writers where they said they asked themselves "What have we seen Spider-man do in movies so far? Let's avoid all of that. What haven't we seen in Spider-man movies yet? Let's explore those spaces."

Things like showing him being nervous for a moment when he took how high he was on the Washington Monument, their approach to MJ, how they handled Aunt May and his friend Ned (Guy in a chair!) and the airplane fight scene - it all worked better than I'd imagined.

I'm still nervous about what Sony does with the Spider-man property it owns, but less so than before, and very excited to see this iteration of Spider-man develop in the years ahead.
Thanks and gig'em

Fantastic movie. Right out of the gate with the theme music from the '70s cartoon that I grew up with. Made me so giddy. All previous Spiderman movies don't even exist anymore to me this one was so superior. A few thoughts and questions:

1. The casting of Flash was a little odd but don't really care upon further reflection.

2. I was really surprised by the FMK scene I think primarily because all of these kids were portrayed as really good kids. None of them are degenerates. I was in high school too so obviously this happens, but I was still surprised by it because it seemed out of character for the environment they set up. Not a big deal though.

3. I was annoyed by the Washington monument scene like one other. Sorry, but it's a completely unnecessary dig that subtly perpetuates our current cultural crisis.

4. What was the Star Wars Easter egg someone mentioned other than the obvious scenes with Legos?

5. Where was the Miles Morales nod?

Here is my main issue with the movie....Michael Keaton is a f'ing badass. One of the best bad guys there has been with the most realistic motivation we've seen that especially parallels our current environment (government crushing the little guy).

I want more of him and I'm concerned Marvel blew their wad using a superior actor on a minor bad guy. I really hope they can bring him back. The vulture suit was kick ass and the one scene with him camped out on the building like Batman was so cool looking. More Keaton please.

Peter had a bunch of Star Wars action figures in his room.

The nephew that Donald Glover mentions is Miles Morales.

1. Winter Soldier

I do not understand how anyone can put GOTG2 over 1.

The payoff with Yondu was fantastic, but everything else was definitely below the first movie.

The Bad
All the Ego stuff was stupid.
Baby Groot wore out his welcome way too early
The 700 jump thingie was just stupid.
Drax humor was too forced
Mantis was used stupidly
The Sovereign were pointless
The PacMan scene basically puts it to the bottom of the list by itself

Good:
Nebula storyline
Rocket/Yondu
Yondu for the last third of the movie
