Alright, I hope ya'll liked that. Now remember, there will be scenes in the movie there were not mentioned in this summary. From the trailer we know that there is:

- A scene where Magneto has a run in with the cops and lifts two police cars with his powers.

- A scene where Jean Grey uses Cerebro.

- A scene where Scott Summers runs through a tunnel looking worried in the basement of the X-Mansion.

- From some other storyboards on the Internet, we know that at one point in the climax of the movie, Storm lifts Wolverine to the torch of the Statue of Liberty using her powers to manipulate wind.

- And there is a rumored scene where Wolverine fights Mystique [who is in the form of Wolverine].

To be honest with you, I just couldn't figure out where any of these scenes fit into the story. If anyone
has any idea, just email me and I'll edit the summary. Anyway, I tried my best to just show everyone that this movie will indeed blow people away this summer. I can't freakin' wait. This is Agent Smith checking out.

Hahahaha, holy sh*t, the "script" is somehow STILL on the internet. I just did a search and some random text file thing of it is still being hosted. Man, this brings back some memories. My online name back then was "Agent Smith," (my last name, right after The Matrix had come out), hence the name at the top. Good gosh this is hilarious. Literally the first "script" I ever "wrote"...

I see nothing wrong with that. Well other than the "checking out"

I should have received a 10-year ban minimum from the internet for the "checking out."

disappointing for my favorite comic universe. Here is hoping new mutants is better... RIGHT? RIIIGHHTT??
If New Mutants was even remotely passable as entertainment, it'd been released by now. The studio(s) are kicking that turd down the road further and further, hoping they can eventually slip it into theaters (or Hulu) when everyone has forgotten about it.
It's "like a turd in the wind!!!"

So is anyone seeing this tonight/this weekend? It's been a while since I've seen a movie get THIS much sh*t - the reviews/reactions are only getting worse - but I'm curious to hear potential reactions from the board, should anyone still try to go.

This will be the first X-Men movie that I will not see in the theater. I've been burned on the last few and am done with them until Marvel inevitably reboots them.

I love the X-Men, I'm steering clear of this train wreck. Simon Kinberg supposedly called this The Dark Knight of the X-Men universe, it looks a lot more like Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets of the X-Men universe.

i probably won't go this weekend, but actually, the reviews/reactions kinda make me want to check it out in the theaters. a morbid curiosity....there's no way a movie with more than a couple of legitimately good actors/actresses can really be that bad, right?

counterpoint- i thought the same thin about apocalypse and the answer was "yes..yes it can"

Checking it out tonight.

With all the summer releases, each movie is only getting a week in the IMAX theater.

Before the reviews this was probably the least interested I've ever been in a comic book movie. Fassbender was the only thing even remotely piquing my interest. But after the reviews, I'm sitting it out. Too many better options to check out instead of wasting time and money on this.

Anyway, I kept in touch with Singer a bit after that - I'd ask him random questions now and again about how to make it in the industry, and he'd always graciously respond - but now it all kind of has this creepy vibe of course, given everything he's been through and all of the allegations since
At least it made for a good story!

For the record, he never hit on me or anything even remotely like that -
Or an OK story. Don't take it personally, you probably just weren't his type.

But yeah, I remember talking about this with you before. The X-Men and The Phantom Menace were the first big movies I got internet hyped for. I remember Fox put up this website where you could unlock different levels of the X-Mansion and try to get to the Danger Room, or go to Cerebro for character bios. For the Phantom Menace, I was all over the Force.net, but the X-Men was the first time I remember a studio doing something cool like that.

*I'm about 97% sure I read the script you put up way back in the day too.

Wasn't the original matrix one of the very first internet hype movies? Didn't they do a whole guerrilla internet campaign and what not?

I think you're right. I just remember the X-Men stuff more clearly because it was my favorite comic book and I had been hanging on rumors for years.

There was www.whatisthematrix.com but I can't remember how extensive it was or how innovative the online marketing campaign may or may not have been. Honestly, as I mentioned in that Matrix thread a few weeks ago, I don't remember the movie being marketed that much. I remember the trailer, of course, a Super Bowl spot, and then other commercials, but outside of the standard fare, I don't remember anything particularly special about its online presence, and I was online fairly frequently in the movie world in those days. Again, that movie kind of came out of no where.

I definitely remember the MASSIVE online presence X-Men had, though. Every trailer was a huge deal, and yeah, I remember the official site being pretty cool as well. That movie absolutely felt like the beginning of something.

That said, the first, biggest, "I've never seen that before" online campaign I remember was for Spielberg's A.I. in 2000/2001. I'm pretty sure that was the first "viral" campaign on that level that had fans doing all kinds of research and clue digging. I'm sure it wasn't actually the first, but that's the first, big innovative one I remember, where it was clear that this kind of viral marketing was going to be a thing for more movies going forward.

Blair Witch was VERY "underground," which was so creepy and cool back then. I remember Harry Knowles at Ain't It Cool News running the very first "review," before anyone had ever heard of the movie, but he reviewed it as if it were a real, edited tape. I still don't know if he was part of the marketing or not (I assume he probably was), but it instantly set this tone of, "Holy sh*t, I think this might be real footage these guys came across and edited as a documentary." BW being the very first found footage movie, the concept was so foreign to everyone that for weeks, if not months, there was this online buzz that it might actually be real, and I think I remember parts of the marketing actually playing to that. I remember by the time the movie itself came out, everyone pretty much knew it was staged, but I don't think the filmmakers actually admitted as much until after it was out in theaters. That was literally a one-time phenomenon that I don't think can ever be repeated.

I'm not joking about hanging on every X-Men rumor back then. My best friend had gotten me into the comics as a kid, and we were roommates at A&M at the time, using a Compaq Presario my mom had given me to write papers and we, of course, were using it for porn and movie rumors.

And I'm pretty sure we'd read that script and talked about the Cyclops and Storm origin scenes not being in the movie when we saw it.

That was so much better than I expected.

Granted, I had fairly low expectations, but I do think it's in the middle tier of the X-Men series at worst. Above X3 and Apocalypse for sure.

The action scenes were pretty good.

And a few minutes into the movie I noticed how much better the score sounded than usual. Had no idea it was Hans Zimmer until the credits.

I'd say it's worth a watch if you're on the fence.

I have a feeling that this is one of those movies that is cool to hate on. I'm sure it isn't great but 23% on RT? That is approaching the rating of one truly horrendous movie. I'm pretty sure it is just highly mediocre with a few head scratching moments.

RT has the annoying habit of doing this many times where people hop on either a positive or negative bandwagon and drastically raise or lower the score to where it isn't reliable. I have a feeling this will be one of those movies where the audience score is at least above 60-70% and will be significantly different from the critics.
