WTF is Fox doing??? Release a trailer on Wednesday and then announce the movie itself is being delayed AGAIN (this time by four months, last time was from November of this year to February 2019)...

A mere two weeks after Disney's Aladdin and one week after Godzilla: King of Monsters. And the same day as The Secret Life of Pets 2 and one week before Chris Hemsworth's Men in Black reboot.

And then what the heck is this???

Where is the word that this is PG-13? Are we sure this isn't animated... some sort of carryover from the canceled series? Could it be a rerelease of Deadpool 2, reedited for younger audiences? Reynolds hasn't been filming a new flick. Is it even remotely possible that they filmed TWO movies last year at once?

Assuming that date isn't a typo, my bet is on an animated Deadpool Christmas movie.

Edit: Have they edited a time traveling Deadpool into old X-films?

Yeah, if I had to guess, I'm betting it's either...

A). Some kind of re-telling of the the first two movies for a PG-13 audience, dressed up in a winking, Christmas/"family" theme, with the only new footage being the Fred Savage bedroom stuff...

... or...

B) Some kind of secret animated movie. Though, I don't know how a single rumor wouldn't have been leaked about its existence, as it would have taken at least a year to put together, if not far longer.

So it sounds like it's definitely a PG-13 cut of Deadpool 2, with added Savage/bedroom footage...

Holy crap, if this is the story retold by Deadpool ala Princess Bride I'm so in.

This looks amazing. It must be so cool to have so exceeded expectations that you have carte blanche to try stuff like this.

this thread has been dead too long.

Fandango says the next X-movie comes out June 7th & New Mutants Aug 2nd.

No updated trailers yet. Are these release dates real?

As someone who grew up loving these films, and thinks DoFP was fantastic...... I'm still super ready for these to die and go to Disney. The more I read X-Men comics, the more excited and confident I am that Feige and Co. will give us a better iteration than we've ever had.

The deal should finalize in a month or two, and I guess these two movies will be released to get some extra money out of it, and that'll be that for a while. But they'll be back, recast and reintroduced and better than ever.

So, today is the day that X-Men: Dark Phoenix was supposed to open.

Actually, this movie should already be out on home video because it was originally set to open November 2, 2018. Then pushed back to today. Now June 7th (just one week after Godzilla: King of Monsters).

They're still holding to the rumor that this movie exists?

Pretty sure I saw a bootleg copy of it right next to the 1994 Fantastic Four bootleg at a comic book convention last year.

That actually looks pretty good. For some reason I thought this was going to be an Jean-centric film independent of the rest of the team. I really enjoy McAvoy/Fassbender as Charles/Magneto so I'll probably see this for that part alone. I wasn't overly impressed with Apocalypse either, so I can't imagine this being a huge disappointment in comparison.

So I watched this just now....dark Phoenix is literally just the same story plot as X3.... the Phoenix takes over her body and starts killin everyone... only way to stop her is a surprise cameo from wolverine or Deadpool

I don't know how to break this to you, but... these movies haven't been good for a while now. They don't make a lick of sense, all continuity has been thrown out the window, and the characters haven't really aged in like 30 years in-universe. I'm sooooo glad this is the last one. It's like having to endure a bland version of Batman & Robin, knowing that Batman Begins is just around the corner (when Marvel takes over - and yes, I realize the metaphor is getting lost in the studio criss-cross).

You aren't breaking anything to me...this movie is going to be just like X3... even the scenes looked identical. Just kill everyone and be done with it all.

That said... I actually think this looks *kind of* decent? Even though there's definitely a constant sense of "Wait, they're STILL making you guys make these movies?" throughout the trailer for a few of the bigger-name actors. Yet, it somehow doesn't look terrible.

Why the hell are they still giving Beast a human form? Nicholas Hoult looks like he's still 20, not someone who was 20 during the Cuban Missile Crisis or whatever the ****.

Doesn't look bad, it's just so... irrelevant.

The trailer looks good but as said already this just seems like a massive rehash. If this was the first time the Phoenix storyline was done I think there would be a lot more excitement because of that trailer.

Only saving grace is that we may actually get a celestial being in Jean instead of it possibly always being in her like in X3. I did wonder how they were going to handle it with Wolvie not being in it and I'm really hoping Mystique eats it early.

You didn't think X-Men first class or Days of Future Past were good?

I don't know why this board loves to hate the X-Men movies so much. Yall wish Kevin Feige could sneeze some of his genius on them, I get it. But the past movies have been entertaining and this trailer looks very good.

I never saw X3 so I'm a little excited about this. I'm more excited about the X-Men joining the MCU though. I have enjoyed Fassbender and McAvoy, and wish they could somehow stay in the MCU.

The performances are often better than the movies, themselves. Especially McAvoy/Fassbender, Jackman, and Stewart. Even Apocalypse, which was pretty damn weak, had that AMAZING first act with Fassbender and his family.

This seems a bit harsh. Logan and Days of Future Past are both very good. Apocalypse is forgettable. The problem, like you were alluding to, is that the franchise has been eclipsed by those other Marvel movies.

But as long as they have McAvoy and Fassbender, I'm still interested.

First Class was way back in 2011 and DoFP was very disappointing to me.

This is just my opinion, but of the X-Men movies only (not counting any spin-offs), there are two great ones (X2 and First Class), one good one (the first one) and three bad ones (X3, DoFP and Age of Apocalypse).

This latest one will be the first I don't see in the theater because I have very little interest in this franchise anymore.
