Interested to see the trailer but still find it incredible that they somehow made it FEWER movies before introducing Dark Phoenix than they did last go around.

Also, here is a twist... what if they stay true to the comics this time around and the Phoenix is actually an extraterrestrial force? We'd be down with opening up the X-universe like that, right?

I saw a synopsis earlier that mentioned it being a creature from space. So it may be cosmic.

But it needs to retire and be rebooted under the Marvel umbrella. I'd be fine with this movie somehow never coming out. It's just pushing a real MCU Phoenix saga back even further.

Phoenix would be a great tie into Fox Universe and the MCU but that maybe asking too much. This movie should set the Rise of the Phoenix and possibly have Dark Phoenix as the villain in the MCU movie to tie them in or something similar.

All signs are pointing to this being the last X-Men movie under Fox, and thus the last time we ever see any of these iterations of the characters and these actors in these rolls. I'd bet anything that Disney/Marvel completely reboots the franchise after this movie. In other words, I wouldn't count on any of these character iterations / actors making their way to the new ownership.

After the last two X-Men movies, here's my reaction to a new trailer:

You could say that Logan killed the X-Men franchise and Deadpool violated its corpse.

Apocalypse is terrible, but Days of Future Past is pretty decent, even fun/good at times. But yeah, I agree that the one-two punch of Logan and the mockery Deadpool made of the X-franchise in general makes the whole thing feel even more irrelevant than it had already become.

At least Bryan Singer is no where near Dark Phoenix. I'm anxious to see what Simon Kinberg can do as a director. Hopefully he can at least help the franchise go out on a somewhat respectable note, and then let's move on from this universe once and for all.

It is probably THE most revered X-Men arc of all time. Hopefully they can go out with an epic bang.

I liked what I saw. Hopefully not too much emphasis on Mystique this time, but we know how that goes, lol.

Cover of The Doors' "The End" is a nice touch and works well. Let's hope that's a promise. All in all this looks... decent?

For such a seminal story, it needed to be 3 movies, minimum, with a build up.
I am OK with dropping the space stuff, but like AoA, these stories need more time than a single movie.

How about the end/explosion/release of her powers ties in with the "reversal" or whatever in Avengers 4, and mutants are instantly part of the MCU, with a history.

Hm! Not bad at all. Would much prefer she and Scott being very established before Phoenix but I won't nitpick. I expected way worse.

Pretty spot-on with my thoughts on the trailer.

I feel like I've seen this movie before. This is the seventh X-Men movie and there doesn't seem to be anything new or groundbreaking in this one. It really feels like a re-hash of all the other plots and tropes we've seen before. So, is Magneto good or bad in this one? It wouldn't be an X-Men movie without Charles and Eric giving each other speeches on good vs evil.

I'm seriously hoping that they are holding back on the outer space/space alien angle with this trailer. If we do get the Shi'ar involved in this, that would be awesome. But really, that's a whole movie's worth of material right there, so I doubt this happens.

I'm fine with this. the only one I'm bummed about being done is hugh jackman as wolverine. he's who I think of when I think of wolverine now, just as much as RDJ as iron man.

the only other one in this "universe" that they better not **** with is Ryan Reynolds as deadpool.

Looks good to me. McAvoy and Fassbender have been great in these roles.

I alluded to this above, but anything that's in this movie kinda pushes back the possibilities for seeing it in the MCU for a few more years. For example: Kevin Feige may want to use Mister Sinister, but if Sinister were to show up in this one, Feige would probably have to kick his first appearance further down the road so the MCU X-Men remain fresh. This is largely why the MCU Spider-Man has given us a break from Green Goblin and we get Vulture and Mysterio instead.

So in a way, I hope this movie doesn't use the Shi'ar. Save them for the MCU. Maybe overuse Magneto one more time so the ~2025 X-Men reboot can have a different villain, for once.

Also, Nicholas Hoult is supposed to be ~50 in this one and again they have him in that stupid human form. He's not a werewolf, damn it!

I love Fassbender as Magneto. He's great in that role and I wish he had a chance to be part of the MCU. I think he would be a good Dr. Doom but I doubt he wants to do more comic movies.

Not sure about this, other than I LOVE Fassbender as Magneto. Guy just owns every scene he's in.

This is a movie I'll see in the theater, but I do have my doubts. As others said, seems kinda like more of the same.

If only. They're still moving forward (though who knows how far) with New Mutants, Gambit and X-Force.

Hey, Deadpool is funny! People love funny superheroes now! Let's take Gambit off in this profitable new direction! /FoxExecs

No way does that movie get made.

The New Mutants movie is already filmed......but is apparently so horrible it's being completely re-tooled and may be extensively re-shot. So, we can forget about that one.

As for Gambit, that movie has been teased for about 5-6 years now. I'll believe it when filming actually starts.

And I believe X-Force is more or less going to be a Deadpool sequel and not really an "X-Men" movie.

WTF is Fox doing??? Release a trailer on Wednesday and then announce the movie itself is being delayed AGAIN (this time by four months, last time was from November of this year to February 2019)...

that's so the extra scene at the end can tie into the MCU post-thanos.
