Sentiment and the fact that it was the first, I think. I agree that objectively it is a little hokey but has some real highlights. Logan in the cage fight/bar, his whole relationship with Rogue, the introduction of the school... All pretty great.

I just watched Apocalypse during lunch breaks over the last few days. I enjoyed it but a bit over the top and melodramatic. I did like the poke that Jean Gray made when talking about the Star Wars movies that "the 3rd one is always the worst" making fun of the original X-men trilogy movies. Overall fun fight sequences although the CG of the chick with the swords was awful during the final fight.

I really liked Nightcrawler in this one, and Scott/Cyclops was pretty good as well. Didn't care for the new Storm just no personality.

The ending with Phoenix was pretty cool. I didn't know if they would unleash the phoenix in the movie world ever. Pretty nice and I liked Jean a lot in that movie.

So, why is Deadpool considered an X-Men movie? Because he ran around with Cable for a while?

Did he end up joining the X-Men at some point? I've started reading his comic on MU and he started out solo.

Fox has the rights to mutants from Marvel. That is why you don't see crossover with non mutants. Deadpool is a mutant with regeneration like Logan.

Apocalypse was the 80s so they did not exist yet.....there is still time for Lucas to be offed in the coming mutant war.

Yeah, I kinda wish they'd gone with a different actor.

Not that he's wrong or a bad actor; just that he hasn't even interacted with ANY of the MCU heroes yet and he's already inked to appear in FOUR X-movies.

Not bad. Some of the other ideas were too old to be buff. Cable is a weird blend of grey hair and gruff but also a complete badass. Pierce Brosnan would have been cool (for example) but probably way too old to be believable at all.

At least as far as time traveling metal-armed psychic gun-wielding supersoldiers are concerned, being believable.

... which means next year is the year Fox is going all-in on their next phase of their Marvel movies.

Btw, what, exactly, is New Mutants? How is it different from X-Men, and how do you think it'll relate/differ cinematically? And I guess Dark Phoenix will take place in the '90s and star whoever they can wrangle from Apocalypse? I'd be shocked to see Fassbenber or Lawrence return, but I could see McAvoy coming back. Was really hoping the main line of X-Men movies in their current form were dead...

New mutants/ x-force is led by Cable and they are the more younger rebellious of them all. Grittier and more edgier I guess than the straight line that we have seen from
Xmen. I could see them being more of a rated R than Pg-13

it really depends on how they go with their story. They were memebers of xmen but Cable took them to be part of his group(xforce). They would come and go from the xmen faction depending on how much Cable was pissed off at Xavier and such
