If I was thinking about watching a movie I've never seen before, I'd look up the E board to see if FAST FRED had provided a review. If it was good, I watched the movie. If Fred gave it a poor review, I passed.

Ah, ***** I'm honestly bummed by this news. I had hoped that someday I'd get to have a beer with Fred and just let him tell stories for days about all the great concerts he's seen and legends that he jammed with. He will be missed around these parts. My condolences to your family.

Loved reading his review threads. I remember once some uninformed mod deleted a "Saw _____" thread because there was already a thread for that movie, and the board revolted and demanded that they bring back FAST FRED's thread. He was a truly unique voice on here and will be sorely missed.

I saw all the stars in the Post of the Day list and clicked on the link hoping to read a well thought out and interesting review or observation, Fast Fred threads were "can't miss" and if he positively reviewed a movie that I had already seen and not liked, I genuinely attempted to take another look at how I perceived the movie.

He will be greatly missed here and I'm sure that goes tenfold outside of TexAgs.

Very few people on here are beloved by EVERYONE...but I think Fred was one of the rare posters who was.

Sorry for your loss. Fred added so much enjoyment to the EB. His music history and experiences at tamu and beyond are something to be desired and created a ton of jealousy. If his words on a website could create so much reaction, I can only imagine knowing him in real life.
He was the only posted that would add one of these

wow i've been so busy today I haven't been able to check the Entertainment board, and I missed this.

So sorry for your loss, and this is a big loss for this community.

As others have said, FAST FRED was the embodiment of the Entertainment board on TexAgs. I was just thinking recently how we haven't heard much from him lately.

Praying for you and your family.

Also, he had the greatest signature on TexAgs

Fred was the cool grandpa of Texags. One of the things that made him so cool is that he could be riffing on an album or a movie and you would forget that he was an older man. Then he'd drop in a line or two about a live show from the late 60s or early 70s... Fred was treasured by this board and will be missed dearly

Maybe a lesser known fact but he also used to drop in at the old horn fans entertainment board, and was appreciated there too.
