Loved Kevin Nealon and norms weekend update. Subliminal man was awesome. Norm was just plain funny.

Keenan Thompson instantly ruins any sketch for me.
I like Colin Quinn now, but I agree that he wasn't great in SNL
Another bad one I'm surprised no one has said is Aidy Bryant.
Bill Hader. Every time I happen upon him doing some character on weekend update, I sit there and wonder how anyone could think he is funny. He's constantly laughing and breaking character because I guess he thinks he's just so funny. It's like he thinks every moment he's in is going to go down as one of the greats.

I don't remember Hader really breaking except for with that Stefan character, which was kind of part of the appeal of the particular character, since Mulaney would rewrite the jokes so that Hader had to cold read them. His other characters outside of Update are great, and he has stood as one of the better comedic actors on the show since Phil Hartman. You rarely see him standing there reading cue cards in his sketches, he is working hard to actually sell the joke.

Came here to say this. Colin would speed-mumble his joke, no one would laugh (presumably because no one had any clue what he just said), then he would get indignant and act like the crowd was against him. Just terrible.

Yeah, he really just had that one daily affirmation character (Stuart Smalley) but like you said he was a long time (head?) writer.
Bill Hader was hilarious. He's way closer to the top of the best list than the worst list that's for sure.

Yes, there are/were plenty of other cast members that I would not spend one second missing if they left the show and weren't replaced, but kicking Jones to the curb would actually improve the show.

Norm was the perfect anchor for the OJ era and he wasn't afraid to make a good joke. When my wife and I were watching OJ on FX I told her it was sad that most of what I really remember from the trail came from SNL. But of course that was when I was in 9th grade which is peak SNL fandom time (7th grade - 9th grade).

Just a guess, but nbc or SNL, I can't remember, allowed nothing to be posted on YouTube, so it may be a filter or some sort? I remember it used to be impossible to find SNL clips on YouTube.
