I'll agree with you on this. But his Weekend update was AWFUL...

Horatio broke character just about every scene he ever did. At least Jimmy Fallon was semi-funny while breaking character.

I always thought it was agreed worst was one of these - all had some success in other endeavors but were not cut out for sketch comedy. All were 1 year members:

Came here to say this. Colin would speed-mumble his joke, no one would laugh (presumably because no one had any clue what he just said), then he would get indignant and act like the crowd was against him. Just terrible.

I nominate Kevin Neelan purely due to being the worst Weekend Update host ever. Dude could not get a complete sentence out without stumbling over a word. Always so painful to watch. I never could understand why they let him do it.

I honestly think you're confusing Nealon with Colin Quinn. Nealon was a pro, his Subliminal Man character only worked because his timing was great and he never stumbled over his words.

Nope, I know Nealon from Quinn. I actually liked all of Nealon's other characters, but I do recall cringing everytime he'd start doing the news, and for good reason every time. He just couldn't read straight from the cue cards without bungling it.
