Rey is probably the most powerful force user to come along in the franchise. Ezra I feel would probably still be ranked below Luke, because I always got the sense that Luke really restrained himself until the final battle in ROTJ.
Anyways, good premier. Ezra is definitely beginning to walk down the dark path, but what will push him over the edge? The loss of someone else on the Ghost? Thrawn's intro was kind of limited, but I think they're saving the "oh ****, it's ****ing Thrawn!" for the rebel side to react to his presence. Still though, wonder how he is going to play into the season. He obviously wants the fleet, so it sounds like we might get a fleet battle this season.
Solid premiere, and I would chalk up Ezra's "power creep" to the holocron. He told Kanon that he's learned from it after all, and this appears to be a while after Malastare, so who knows how far he's advanced...
I don't think Ezra's become too powerful too quick. My son's first reaction was "he's gotten OLDER!". Obviously, much time has passed since last season. As previously mentioned, he has been using the Sith holocron to learn from in addition to learning from his master. Having said all that, he does indeed look to be very powerful and is certainly a force to be reckoned with....and he's a teenager. We all know teens are usually emotionally unstable, and without proper jedi training, Ezra is definitely unstable.
Rey is probably the most powerful force user to come along in the franchise.
Don't really want to derail this thread, but curious about that statement. I'd say Vader, Yoda, Obi wan, and even Kylo Ren have been shown to be more powerful than her.

I really don't see how you can say that she is less powerful in the force than Kylo Ren. She straight up overpowered his ass when they were dueling in the pull for Luke/Anakin/Rey's lightsaber. Without knowing her complete level of training (I'm thinking we will get some more backstory on her history in VIII), right now she strikes me being as powerful as Kenobi in his prime during The Clone Wars and I think she's younger. If she isn't the most powerful, then she's damn close to Luke who we know was the most powerful force user in the OT by ROTJ but even at this point she's mind tricked Craigtrooper with little effort, and intuitively uses her powers as easily as Anakin did. Problem with Yoda is that we can't really peg his abilities because his powers were written as the plot demanded going from hobbling old man to spry, acrobat fighter within an instant. Then the issue with Anakin/Vader is where you pick him out in the saga. He arguably isn't too great in the PT until ROTS and has a momentary glimpse where he looks like he might outmatch Kenobi, but his hubris and greed (then his search to bring order to the galaxy as mentioned in ROTS) keeps him from being much more powerful.
Really, I think you could make an argument that even by ROTJ that Sidious/The Emperor was on par with Luke.
Don't get me wrong, probably everyone you mentioned is/was powerful but when you look at their apex but Rey is still very much climbing in her abilities and so I expect some significant hand waving to explain why she is as powerful as she is in the SWU by the end of IX.
Kylo Ren had just killed his father, been shot in the chest by chewie and won a duel with Finn before Rey barely got the upper hand on him. Why do you think she's more powerful than him?
I'm also not sure how powerful Luke was. Yes, he beat Vader in a duel, but didn't Vader show he's not willing to let Luke die? Vader was going easy on him hoping to convert him, and then willing to die to save him. Luke got straight up owned when the emperor got involved. I'm not sure Luke was very powerful in the original trilogy at all.

Don't forget how she resisted and turned his mind probe back on him when he tried to interrogate her. He wasn't injured then, so what's the excuse there?

Luke refused to do anything more that the Emperor would want. I don't know how that qualifies as being owned when you completely give up resisting.
1) Luke probably didn't think the emperor was going to whip out force lightning, or else he wouldn't have thrown his saber away.
2) Luke was probably gambling on anything the emperor did pushing Vader back to the light.
As to Rey, I don't think she's anymore powerful right now than Anakin in AOTC. She wouldn't have gone toe-to-toe with Dooku as long as he did, and he force controlled a dinosaur.
By the way, since Luke did throw his saber away after declaring himself a Jedi, what happened to it? Did he recover it? Did it blow up with the Death Star?
First episode was pretty good. Mostly setup, but intriguing.
Filoni says he knows who the voice in the holocron is, which in his parlance means he has written a backstory. If Lucasfilm is looking for more anthology films, and the fans want some Old Republic, a take about a powerful Sith empress versus OR Jedi would be cool.
Looked through the thread but didn't see any post on this bit of casting news. But Katee Sackhoff will return and reprise her role as Bo Katan.
So it's I think it's pretty apparent that between Fenn Rau in the trailer and Bo Katan's likely return that we are going to fill in the gap for the Siege of Mandalore.
Well, you're not too far off the mark honestly because it is a Nightsister of sorts doing the voice work. Nika Futterman is voicing the Presence who also voiced Asaji Ventress.
I thought it sounded like Ventress, but it's pretty common for one actor to voice multiple characters in cartoons. Also, not sure it's really all that important.
Random thought: Why would Palpatine not have gone and found that holocron years ago?

My guess is "he lives" means Obi-wan. Maul has always been obsessed with him in these cartoons.
edit: I admit I don't remember how Maul and Obi-wan left things in Clone Wars.
Well, IIRC last time they saw each other was when Maul ran Satine through with the Darksaber. Kenobi then, with the help of Bo Katan, escaped Mandalore to alert the Republic. While Maul faced off with Sidious.... Whimpering for mercy.
I think that they may still have some unfinished business.
Overall, this was a pretty damn good episode. While it felt a tad rushed, this may have been one of the better episodes where they struck a balance in the narrative between characters. Tom Baker's character (Bendu) has been a real treat this season IMO. The place where they met maul looked visually amazing.
Even if it was spelled Ren (which I don't know if it is or not) I wouldn't read much into it. Ren, after all, is not his real name..and likely a title similar to Darth, based on "knights of Ren..."
