Is this even worth watching? Is it just TWD on a boat?

I have them DVRd but just don't feel like it. Maybe it's a carryover from that stupid cliffhanger on TWD and I just need a break from that universe. I also think they should have spent more time showing the breakdown of society in LA.

I'm liking it so far. I don't like the family but it's mainly frustration with them not doing things they should be doing since I know what's happening and they don't. I'm realizing I have to watch this show with a different mindset than TWD.

45 mins in....nothing of note.

Old Mexican dude and Strand are the only ones I remotely care about. The rest all need to die

Yes, I meant the girl. We don't know how long she was dead, but the CDC episode of TWD revealed it can take anywhere from a few minutes to a few hours.

Reanimation has been horribly inconsistent across every storyline and medium. You either have to #JustAZombeeShow or drive on.

The time of reanimation seemed to be a function of exposure to the undead. The initial outbreak took the dead hours to turn, as people interacted with the Zs, the more of the dormant "infection" got into them causing a quicker turn time.

There were people turning at the scenes of accidents in season 1. I don't think they had really settled into their own mythology early in the walking dead. Hell, the walkers were picking up rocks to try and break windows in Atlanta.

While we're on the subject of inconsistencies,

Abigail was backed in and tied up to the dock on Catrina Island. The dock was in the starboard side of the boat and the island was in clear view of her stern. The scenes on the boat, however, most noticeably the one where Nick comes in and tells Travis that the guy on the island is going to 'Jonestown' his family, NONE of that is seen. The scenes were clearly shot at anchor with open water behind the boat; where'd the ISLAND GO????

Is this LOST???

This show is stupid. The acting is meh, and the writing is shiiiiiiit, but I'll keep watching until there's something better to DVR on Sunday nights.

The time to reanimate is a simple function of convenience for the writers. I give it one more episode to impress me and then it becomes a "if I'm bored I'll watch it on Netfix" kind of show.

I guess I am in the minority here but I think this show is way more interesting than TWD. Also its much better acting, with the exception of Strand who Im not a huge fan of.

I think the franchise is suffering from another "gotten too big for their britches" phase. It happened with the main series (before the current showrunner), and it happened with the "source material". I thought they were over the hump with the vast improvement on the main series, but it has gone back to lazy, cockiness in 2016:

-Main series wandering
-Terribly cocky cliff hanger
-Completely pointless Flight Whatever mini-episodes
-Boring start to FTWD

Looks like they need another injection of new blood....

I think those flight episodes may come into play when they find the plane next week

I can't remember any of their names except for Strand and Travis. To me, they are still:
- old badass
- dumbfaced nurse (now deceased)
- junkie
- emo
- hotpants (also known as junkie's hot sister)
- old badass' daughter who looks enough like hotpants that I have to make note each scene as to which one it is
- guidance counselor

And the only reason I remember Travis is that guidance counselor is always whining at him and says his name while doing so enough that it's stuck.

Guidance counselor is Madison. I remember that because she's too old to have actually been named Madison (the movie Splash came out in 84 and the character has to be mid 40s).

Sometimes its "Gone Girl Detective" instead of "guidance counselor". I'm waiting for her to find something incriminating about Strand.
