How long do you want to ignore this user?
Was flipping through Netflix and ran across this documentary about amateur girls in porn. One from the New Braunfels area.

Fascinating. Scary. Very sad.

I'm sure there will be comments directed towards me but whatever. Anyone seen this?

I'm not sure if I should be mad because I was lured under false pretenses, or guilty because of this thread and what those pretenses were.

I also saw that on Netflix but didn't watch it, looked interesting. Coupland, would you recommend watching it in general?

Would..........recommend watching it that is.

I watched it because of the girl from N.B. who is a former cheerleader from there.

It shows her going home to visit her mom and dad and i would say that is what fascinated me. Her mom figured it out before she told her what was going on. One part shows her hunting with her dad and she's supposed to confess to him what she's been doing (how she explains the camera guy before that i don't know). Can you imagine?!?

Later during that visit it shows her returning to a party with her high school friends and she starts to realize the magnitude and irreversible nature of what she's done. They all know and her boyfriend is with her at this party.

That's all I'm going to say. I was really just wondering if anyone else has seen it and what the impression was. Was it real? Seemed like it but as I'm trying to describe it, it just doesn't seem as if it could be. Yet i think it was.

as to whether to watch it or not i seriously don't know what to tell you. You'll get about a a quarter of the way into it and know if it's interestimg enough for you.

They also interviewed some of the 'male talent' and it was just downright skeezy.

Porn is big business. Here's the funny thing. As big businesses go it is one of the more transparent, open and honest out there, at least for the most part. Sure, it's ironic, cause the people in it are mostly sleazy, but they actually run their sleazy businesses pretty honestly.

It's weird.

Saw it and thought it was really good at getting the "realistic" nature of the porn industry. Just like any other business, it truly is all about the dollar. The part about the new talent only having like a shelf-life of around 1-3 months shows just how many young girls go that route. I was actually pretty surprised how many do that. The large sums of money they get paid lures them in and then once the companies get what they want, they stop booking them.

I thought the local aspect of the girl from New Braunfels and her family gave it a realness. Also I guess you didn't catch it but at the party they went to there was A&M stuff all over the place. Guess the host was an Aggie.

Yeah if you're looking for something to fap to that's now what this is.

What makes them sleazy?

I saw it and was pissed that there was a stupid 'saw 'em off' banner at the party. So unclassy.

The "main character" had an A&M Cotton Bowl shirt on during a few of the scenes as well.

I thought it was interesting, but I don't think it really showed anything that most didn't already assume - these are young, dumb girls that are a dime-a-dozen that come from families that probably didn't do the best parenting job in the world.

I know nothing about the industry, but I gotta think there is a lot of drugs issues that they didn't really touch upon. Sure the money is good and that puppy in the house sure is cute -- but I gotta believe there's a little something extra that keeps these girls around and going.

Now I just pray I never have a daughter.

There was another interesting documentary I watched on Netflix once called After Porn Ends. As the title indicates, it is about what these actors and actresses do after they leave that life and what brought them to that life in the first place.

Yeah...The never ending, all you can eat buffet of deek.

I don't think drugs have a part in it. I've watched Pornucopia and a couple other docs on the industry and as someone said, besides the nature of what they do, it's a clean industry and it's run very tightly (no pun intended). They do a god job of self regulating and trying to ditch the stigma that they're just sleazy whoares (which they are) but it's a big money industry that knows it needs to stay on the up and up to max out it's profits.

Now if you get into the legal prostitution side of things (Bunny Ranch, escorts, etc) that aren't self regulated then it gets dicey.

I think your crazy if you think drugs aren't a big player. I also suspect that the distinction you make between the 'up an up' side and the 'sleazy side with legal prostitution' is way more blurry than you imagine.
mhayden
How long do you want to ignore this user?
There's drugs in almost every lifetstyle where money is flowing like that.

I find it hard to believe that these dumb girls who have sex on camera with strangers for money all living in the same piece of **** house draw the line when it comes to drugs.

I would assume the only reason it wasn't shown in the documentary was that the access wouldn't have been given at all if the film showed illegal drugs being provided and consumed around the house.

What makes these women sleazy hoors? Is it the public appreciation of sexual pleasure? Why is it in this day and age we still shame an appreciation for sexual gratification? The sensation is as addictive as skydiving and completely harmless if done safely.

A good looking gal can get all she wants. Ive always assumed that's very low on the list. I would think that's a big motivator for the males though.

I have a hard time believing that's a clean industry. STDs have to be a common hazard.

They test like once a month. The percentage of pornstars with ANY STD is way way lower than he general population.

I do know for a fact though that pain killers are a big drug in Porn, especially with the males. I believe they aren't forced to take them, but are "highly encouraged" before doing a scene. That's one of the reasons they last as long as they do.

I actually worked at the same place that the blinn girl that wore the a&m shirt when she filmed her porn scene. About a month after, guys started showing up like crazy and requesting her to wait their table, and eventually started making fun of her to the point that she broke into tears. That led to the whole story spilling out to our manager, and they had to fire her. I wonder if she thinks it was worth the 5 grand now, or whatever they pay the girls.

How many scenes do they film between that monthly test? I di suppose it's safer if everyone's test is staggered during that time.

I missed the gal wearing A&M gear.
TxAgg07

The girl in the documentary said they test every two weeks and that that do 2-3 scenes per week.

She wasn't in the documentary but was in one of these amateur videos like depicted in the documentary.

2-3 scenes per week at $5K a pop?

Yeh I'd say it can totally be worth it. Where else is a 19 year old gonna make $5-10k a week?
