Makes for a fun gag, but this thing is so edited that it's hard to tell if this movie is truly as awkward as shown

Dang I forgot the best spoilers of all. I'll even include the ridiculous spoiler tags which are a pain in the Madame Web on mobile.

She has a vision of her boss getting in a wreck in an ambulance where he dies. His face doesn't have a scratch but he's bleeding through his shirt as she gives him chest compressions. She literally tries to stop him for about a second before he drives 20 feet and gets smoked by a dump truck. It was like a scene out of Final Destination.

Speaking of ambulances she also ramps one through a sign out of a parking garage? And spears evil spidey off a car with the ambulance.

And it takes place in the 90s? Or maybe not? Is that correct?

2003.

More spoilers

Unnamed baby Peter Parker is in the movie. Uncle Ben drives Peter's mom to the hospital when she goes into labor. They never say his name in the movie..

I'm not against watching bad movies. They have their place for fun and also to make you appreciate the good ones. There's a lot of great movies I haven't see though and with little kids I have to be selective about what I watch and when.

On top of that just feel like these Sony movies are the laziest attempt at latching onto the success of the MCU that I've ever seen so I take a moral stand by not watching them. No need to thank me for my service.

Madam Web, for instance.

I don't know I haven't seen the movie she may have the biggest freaking cape ever.

Deadpool 3 will beat it….madam web won't bank over 70 million domestic and Deadpool 3 will crush that opening weekend

you know what....im updating this.....

madam web will not gross over 50 million US domestic.....opening weekend will come in under 20 million domestic.....

deadpool 3 will beat madam web's total US domestic monies by end of day friday (assuming it premieres on a thursday)
whelp….we'll see how close I get….didnt realize madam web was basically getting the red carpet of weekend roll outs…..

Opened on a Wednesday…..and Monday is a holiday….does the Monday count for opening "weekend"

Wednesday grossed 6,051,012 for an average per theatre of $1,507….

Thursday grossed 2,153,607 for an average per theatre of $536…..

We'll see what Friday and Saturday bring…..was just thinking Thursday - Sunday when I made the 20 mil prediction but who knows could still be right…..

They're projecting $24M for Madame Web over the first six days, through the Monday holiday. I'll say you weren't far off considering the weird opening day.

Pure weekend was definitely below $20M.

Deadpool will smash that on its opening day. That would've been the better question a week ago. Not so much anymore.

Also, I'm happy to say Blue Beetle did much better, having $29M opening weekend, without the benefit of any holidays or mid-week opening.

That was a fun movie and deserved to not be the biggest comic movie flop.

Let's do more math….

Over the past 3 days the average revenue per theater has been $1,038. It's currently playing in 4,013 theaters….

Now…some of those theaters will only have it on one screen due to being smaller….others will have it on 2-3 screens…..so let's say per theater its on 1.5 screens which gives a total of 6020 (rounded up) total screens it's playing on in the USA…..

Now….prices vary per ticket and I did a check could range anywhere from $9 - $12 for average theaters…..so let's go with $10.50 per ticket……

That means per movie screen, you have an average of $691 dollars per theater screen (4013 theaters X $1,038 average revenue / 6020 total movie screens)……take $691 / $10.50 per ticket gives you approximately 65 people per theater screen per day…..

Now….how many showings per day per screen? My guess is somewhere between 4 - 5….so let's say 4.5 depending on the theater…..

That means on average 12 - 18 people in a theater to watch this thing on opening weekend per showing…..daaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaang

I just paid $19.89 to see Drive-Away Dolls next weekend at the Alamo Drafthouse LA.

Paid $29.14 per ticket to see Dune: Part Two the week after that in IMAX.

I can't remember the last time I paid less than even $15 for a ticket. Close to a decade ago?

Holy crap man. I know you hate AMC, but you could be saving a ton of money with A-List. Costs less than a single IMAX ticket for you.

Packed house opening weekend for a huge blockbuster, nothing tops the Chinese Theater IMAX. When I have access to an experience like that, going to an AMC feels like negligence. And the Alamo Drafthouse downtown fills that "speciality" gap until the ArcLight Hollywood finally returns next year, which will probably cost around the same. Overall, I'll happily pay these prices, if only because seeing movies at these places is unlike anywhere else in the world.

Ok I'm going to update the math and do $11 a ticket and $13 a ticket and just give the whole number for each one for the average # of people per showing across the US…..and I will NOT show my work….

$11 a ticket: 13 people per showing across the US

$13 a ticket: 11 people per showing across the US

THAT. SUCKS.

And if I were to re-do this after Sunday the average will probably drop a tad as Sunday will be low just based on history for all weekend releases…..Saturday who the heck knows what to expect for this turd….

Primarily Dallas. AMC IMAX is like $23. I think Drafthouse is $16... I saw The Beekeeper this week in Manhattan and that was $25 well spent... I did see Godzilla Minus One at the Chinese Theater in LA that TC mentioned. I don't remember how much it was but it was expensive. But it was an awesome theater experience.

But all that said I have AMC A-List which like Spilner said, if you go to movies fairly frequently, you're crazy to not have. If you see one a month you pretty much come out ahead. But even though I have A-List - sometimes I still go to Drafthouse just because I like the theater.

Madam Web has made less this weekend than the Marvels did in its first day. That said, the budget was about 1/3 of the Marvels' as well. It's a real race to the bottom on this one.

Pure weekend was $15M, which is about half of what Blue Beetle did. ($29M)
