I think this is cool as hell, and really separates this iteration from the last two. Plus, the sets, the styles, etc could be a ton of fun. Also, by movie's end, it's not like they won't end up in present day anyway, with all the other heroes. There are also rumors that this might not even be *our* 1960s, as it could very well be an alternate universe 1960s, which could be even weirder/more fun.

But then that is just expanding the multiverse even further.

I agree with all that.
BUT
I also think Marvel needs to stop going back in time to create heroes, and then have some convoluted explanation for why they are missing until the present day. Captain America, Captain Marvel, and now Fantastic 4. I'm sure it'll be good, but maybe this should be the last time? I've heard Blade may be similar...but he's a vampire so I'll allow it.

I hear you. They had to get around these guys not existing in the MCU so far, and they seemingly didn't want to do another origin story, in the present day, seeing as that's what the last two iterations were, so here we are. So my guess is we're going to join a Fantastic Four that's already established, be it in our universe or another, and then go from there.
Honestly, though, with how bad the MCU has been the last few years, I'm over worrying about timelines, or not liking the multiverse, etc. IMO, the damage has already been done. At this point I'm just looking for fun movies again that actually move the plot forward, and this one feels like it'll check both those boxes.

I dont mind it because I'm not invested in the storyline anymore because everything I have watched sans loki in the last several years has sucked. I just know you have said several times you think they need to reign multiverse in

and I am going to disagree with you.
I think it is trying to be overly "clever" and wasting time instead of just having them be in the present already (even if it is an origin story). It sucked for Captain Marvel, and I do not think it will be doing any favors here.
And yes, they will be in the present day by the end, but that just makes it a retread of CA:TFA.
I seem to remember watching a couple (a few?) episodes a while back but can't remember much about it or why I stopped watching.swimmerbabe11 said:
This is super late to the convo, but I never remember seeing us talk about it.
I just finished the 2 seasons of Cloak and Dagger and I really enjoyed it. Was I alone in this?
If Fantastic Four is set in the 60s, I can see it work two ways:
— Monkey D. Hernandy (@hernandy_s) February 14, 2024
• They’re not public heroes. Their existence is a secret kept by the gov or the Baxter Foundation or wtv, kinda like the Ultimate comics.
• The movie is in another universe, so dw about the present day Avengers.

They can't be secret and not have come out in avengers 1 or endgame. Just would be an insane plot hole.
The Fantastic Four are in an oddly exuberant mood if the Thing is reading Life Magazine from December 1963 less than a month after JFK got assassinated.TCTTS said:Stephen Strange you son of a bitch. https://t.co/yKKG4cRlV8 pic.twitter.com/yJ0xC4DVRr

Regardless of which scenario, I think the basic assumption is that by the end of their movie they're either going to be stranded somewhere off world, or stranded in another dimension, and then return to Earth in present day - or - somehow time travel to present day. Either way, they wouldn't have been around for the duration of the MCU circa 2008 until now. Both scenarios can accommodate this.
