With the Jonathan Majors situation coming to an end... I would like to invite everyone to mentally remove "Avengers: Kang Dynasty" from your MCU big board.

It weirdly makes the future slate feel much better if all roads lead directly to #SecretWars pic.twitter.com/q9nl0fMuJN

Seems like this was the direction they were planning on going for a while and they had their finger on the button just waiting
According to reports, Marvel Studios has pivoted their plans and will focus on a new villain for the next Avengers movie. Internally, the film is referred to as 'AVENGERS 5' instead of 'AVENGERS: THE KANG DYNASTY.'

Effectively, SECRET WARS is now a two-part conclusion to the Avengers Saga. https://t.co/8nSTIp4Bpu

For a while now, despite Marvel's deafening silence, it has been clear that the company had certain plans in place in the event that Majors was found guilty. I previously said as much on The Hot Mic podcast that I co-host with John Rocha. I said that the next Avengers movie would not be called The Kang Dynasty and that it sounded like Marvel was searching for one writer who ended up being Michael Waldron and one director to effectively tackle a two-part Secret Wars movie that would serve as the conclusion of the Avengers Saga.
There was simply no way that Marvel could continue with Majors regardless of the verdict and once he was found guilty, I'm not surprised how quickly the trades changed their tune and began referencing The Kang Dynasty as Avengers 5. It doesn't matter what they end up calling it Secret Wars is basically shaping up to be "a giant five-hour movie with a year-long intermission," according to one source.
It is the motion picture event that the entire MCU has been leading up to before shifting its focus to the X-Men franchise that Disney landed when it acquired 20th Century Fox. Marvel's Kevin Feige simply couldn't afford to let Majors' cloud rain on his parade, and as soon as the "guilty" verdict was official, plans were put in motion to publicly sever ties with the actor, sparing everyone the ongoing charade of whether he would or wouldn't be back as Kang.

I never thought he was that bad, and Loki didn't really tie everything up. There was the Council of Kangs meeting at the end of Quantumania that really went nowhere, and for all the, "All these other versions of me are coming," talk adding with that, the while arc seems unconcluded. The Kang defeated by Ant Man was just one. The thing about Kang is that there's so many of him, and none of the others were ever explored. They built up this whole, big bad guy character who turned out to be nothing.
Their problem with starting with a fresh slate is going to be building an MCU without Marvel's best IP because they've already used it up. No more Iron Man, Captain America, Black Widow, Thor, GoTG, etc. Their latest and most familiar IP isn't exactly popular and putting butts in seats either. So are they just going to try to start fresh with X-Men and Fantastic Four? I don't see those going over well. X-Men has been done many times, and Fantastic Four has never been very successful. I just don't see this kind of pivot working out too well.

I'm sure it's been discussed, but I'm not sifting through 700 pages to see..
What's the consensus in here on the Don Cheadle vs Terrence Howard as War Machine debate? Was Cheadle only competent? Was he an upgrade?
Do any of y'all think Howard was better for that character?

Does anyone else think there's time for Deadpool 3 to address this?
IIRC with rogue one they added the hallway scene with Vader within months of the movie premiering….plenty of time for them to throw in a nod/wink at the MCU issues with Kang in some way….dont even need to address the character directly could throw in a jab/nod at Dr doom at the end cause it's been whispered they were gonna do tbat anyway
While they could I feel like we may get some kind of X-Men easter egg in DP3, it's already the first step into that world.jokershady said:
