In my mind I keep thinking it's an actor impersonating Sam Jackson because no way he'd do a full series on D+.

Disney brought in a Skrull from the other side of the galaxy rather than throw money at SLJ to do a series.

Gotta be the actual Fury. It'd be wasted character development if it's someone else.

Even before Skrulls were introduced, fan theories would speculate "is Hawkeye a Skrull?" - but imagine if the Hawkeye series was a Skrull all along and the real Clint eventually shows up and doesn't know Kate Bishop. Interesting for a few minutes but mostly just problematic for his character and the story told so far.

Except for Sharon Carter - she needs to be a Skrull because her heel turn was dumb as ****.

I struggle to think who could be a Skrull and Sharon is definitely up there but doesn't feel shocking enough. Any alister they choose basically murders the character as we know them.

I can't see anyone in the marvel family, nor anyone from
The Strange side of things. Spider-Man has legal issues.

If it was someone from ant family, maybe with proximity to the movie that could work

Two quick thoughts actually:

1) The only superhero we know to be in this is Rhodey

2) The easiest way to have a twist, but reel in any unintended consequences, would be to have them be replaced during or just before this show. For example, the Rhodey you see in this series is a Skrull, but the Rhodey in Endgame and prior was definitely the real Rhodey and the real Rhodey is kept prisoner somewhere until Fury frees him.

I imagine the show will be full of that - never knowing who Fury is talking to for real in any particular scene - but probably not "and they got replaced back in Phase 2" for anyone of importance.

That would mean Skrull Rhodey was an Avenger for 5 years during the Blip though, or had an Emmy-nominated heart to heart with Sam Wilson about stepping into Steve Rogers' shoes.

I do hope there are more noteworthy names / cameos than just Rhodey though. It's fair that this won't be like the comics series, but there's gotta be more than just Fury, Talos and Everett Ross to get me super excited.

What if they reveal Rhodey has been a Skrull since Iron Man 2, and Terrence Howard shows up as the real Rhodey and is furious that nobody realized he looked completely different the last 13 years and the episode goes full woke with him saying, "You know we don't ALL LOOK ALIKE!"

I believe you are correct. I remember reading an article a ways back not long after GotG2 came out (or maybe IW or ENdgame) that he really didn't want to return to the character again….so they're probably killing him off in this one.

I posted most of this in the Box Office thread as well, but I wonder if Marvel might be leaning towards firing s Jonathan Majors as Kang, because it appears they yanked AntMan out of the theaters after Friday with no warning and without it going to streaming the very next day, which is usually par for the course. It's been a quiet 7-10 days without any news on Majors.

On the other hand, Disney and WB quickly jumped ship on Johnny Depp and then looked like idiots when he won the **** storm with Amber Heard so maybe they're waiting to see what happens.

Regardless:

It looks like Marvel straight yanked Quantumania out of theaters after Friday. it's 3 days later and no box office #s from Saturday or Sunday, meaning it only made it 50 days in theaters.

They dropped it to 1,915 theaters on March 24, and it still made $1.112 million on that Saturday. However Jonathan Majors got arrested on March 26, and even accounting for fewer theaters, its numbers dive bombed.

The day that Super Mario Bros. opened last Wednesday, Antman made $45,041 at the box office after making $180,920 the day before, and $227,455 a week previous.

The previous Marvel films were Black Panther 2, Thor 4, and Dr. Strange 2

Black Panther 2 made $453m and was in the theaters for 126 days.
Dr. Strange 2 made $411m and was in the theaters for 98 days
Thor 4 made $343m and was in the theaters for 98 days.
