Once an original complaint is filed with police, they will go ahead and arrest the person. It does not matter what the original complaintant says after that. Now, if the original complainant does not agree to help the police going forward, then you will probably see the charges dropped.

For further example, see Beard, Chris (former sip basketball coach, now Ole Miss basketball coach)

Charges being dropped also may have no connection to whether the event actually occurred.

Exactly. At this point, if she ends up dropping the charges, I'll probably just assume Marvel got to her and paid her off.

I'm with fig. This almost assuredly had nothing to do with anyone "signing off" on anything, but rather some intern or mid-level employee who accidentally clicked the wrong file or whatever. Trust me, none of these companies are as air-tight/impervious as you might think. I've heard first-hand stories of all kinds of dumbassery at places like this.

Marvel is far less involved in something like this than you think they were. They likely signed a deal, provided artwork to an agency, and haven't looked at it since. And many execs have very little clue what they're looking at.

It's likely something that a lower level person leaked or accidentally posted as TCTTS said, but a whole lot of people involved in this type of thing aren't especially competent.

The only reason they recovered it is cause someone had been working from home and they were able to restore it from their local drives. They only lost a few weeks work rather than years.

Yep.

Back in the dark times, I was in a COBOL class at A&M working on a big programming assignment from my apartment rather than in one of the computing centers on class. Had a dial-in modem going, was very nearly done with the code but had stupidly neither saved nor entered the code to block incoming phone calls. Of course someone called. The connection dropped and with it went my code. Fun times.
