The Army has already pulled the ad campaign, a number of credible stories have come to light that paint Majors as an assh*ole at best, and this whole thing is currently doing irreparable damage to his career. If proven innocent will he eventually bounce back? Sure. But the court of public opinion absolutely matters, and the longer we go without that proof, the more this weekend's narrative becomes the truth, no matter what the truth ends up being.
Of course you can do this. We see evidence released publically all the damn time.Quad Dog said:
Not a lawyer, but I'm pretty sure you can't just release video evidence to the public. It could influence potential jurors.
If they're looking to have the accuser recant then they don't have video that shows he's innocent.AggieLitigator said:TCTTS said:Saxsoon said:
https://variety.com/2023/film/news/jonathan-major-alleged-assault-evidence-1235564860/Quote:
"Jonathan Majors is completely innocent and is provably the victim of an altercation with a woman he knows," says criminal defense lawyer Priya Chaudhry. "We are quickly gathering and presenting evidence to the District Attorney with the expectation that all charges will be dropped imminently."
Chaudhry goes on to say there is video footage from the vehicle where the alleged incident took place, witness testimony from the driver and onlookers and two written statements from the woman recanting the allegations.
"All the evidence proves that Mr. Majors is entirely innocent and did not assault her whatsoever," she said. "Unfortunately, this incident came about because this woman was having an emotional crisis, for which she was taken to a hospital yesterday. The NYPD is required to make an arrest in these situations, and this is the only reason Mr. Majors was arrested. We expect these charges to be dropped soon."
Then let's SEE that evidence. Why are you (the lawyer) just telling us about it? Every hour that this story is allowed to build and fester online, the worse it gets for Majors in the court of public opinion. Especially when I continue to see story after story posted, from people who either allegedly worked with him or have heard stories from colleagues, essentially/increasingly saying, "Yeah, he's always been a piece of sh*t." The director who posted a rant about Majors in February, but didn't use his name, who then confirmed last night that he was, indeed, talking about Majors, is especially convincing/damaging. But if there really are two letters from the woman recanting her story (why there would be two, I'm not sure), AND video evidence, then release it all ASAP. If anything, TMZ should be all over that kind of stuff.
The criminal defense attorneys job is to defend against the charges. You don't want to discredit the alleged victim in the media if you have hopes of her recanting her story or asking the State not to prosecute you. Any information disclosed later will be because it's in the best interest of the case to pressure the prosecutor to dismiss. If there's even a reason to release any evidence. There's more to it than this, but this is the quickest way to explain. In other words, it depends…I always start a case preparing as though it's going to trial.
That's too simplistic a view. Because if it shows he didn't hit her, but he is in her face screaming her down, he looks like a dick and a rageoholic. The goal of his lawyer is to address only the charge against him and disprove it to the DA.MBAR said:Of course you can do this. We see evidence released publically all the damn time.Quad Dog said:

If Majors had footage that showed he was innocent it would be out.
I mean that is fair to an extent, but I'm not really sure it changes my point. I have zero doubts his lawyers are doing what they know to be best to beat the charges or get rid of them all together, but I also don't think what is on that video is ever going to be something that makes us think of Majors the way we did prior to this weekend. If that video that did that existed, it would be out.The Porkchop Express said:That's too simplistic a view. I'm secretly hoping they say "screw it" and replace Kang with Deadpool and we get to explore the weird multiverse versions of Deadpool....directed by Taika Waititi...or James Gunn.Claude! said:DubFalls said:The Porkchop Express said:Dr. Doom is a bad-ass villain, but if you're going the traditional route you're asking the bad guy to wear a mask for 2+ movies that never shows his face, or keep on coming up with convenient ways for him not to wear it that makes Doom not Doom. So do you go with a Grade A actor who never his face shown? Even Brolin was fairly recognizable in the Thanos CGI, and the voice as all him. Doom's voice would be significantly altered by the mask, I'm assuming.TexasAggie_02 said:
Strangely enough, on r/marvelstudios last night, the vast majority were like "good riddance. " many even hoping that secret wars could now be done with Dr Doom instead of kang.
Perhaps Pedro Pascal could give it a go.
This is the way.

Yeah I'm really confused because they seem to be saying she's changed her story but they already arraigned him on charges so?TCTTS said:
