Yep. Your average movie goer might've been vaguely aware of Iron Man at best.

Yeah, but the stones created reality/existence itself. They're the tools of the gods. Like DallasTeleAg said, I'm assuming they have some form of sentience, and *they* knew that Gamora switched sides. Either way, Gamora not getting dusted has never bothered me in the least. In fact, I'd never even thought about it before today.

Which the Loki show basically throws out the window right? The time variance authority people were literally using infinity stones as paperweights. I kind of wish we didn't go down this time variance multiverse road cause it takes away from the power of the stones (and so much else outside the scope of this discussion)
CNN is an enemy of the state and should be treated as such.

Doesn't throw it out the window at all. The TVA is untethered from time, thus they can go and snatch as many stones from as many timelines/realities as they want. That doesn't negate the stones' power, though, it just negates their relevance to the TVA. At least that's how I took it.

That's Lylla who has a special relationship with Rocket in the comics. She was actually teased in the first GOTG movie during Rocket's rap sheet readout from the Nova Corps.

Iron Man was my favorite comic as a boy and the one I read more than any other. I was thrilled when that movie got made.

Plus he was an Avenger. I think he was more well-known than you realize.

To the public, I think anyone who wasn't Batman, Superman, Spider-Man, Hulk or Wolverine was B-tier or below.

To comics readers though, Iron Man has had a monthly solo comic since the 60s, plus he was a frequent Avenger. Same for Cap and Thor. So while they weren't yet public favorites or anything, any Marvel reader would know them, surely.

GotG though, that was a team from the future that would pop up rarely in the 60s and 70s, then had a 90s run, then basically disappeared from print until the 2008 reboot. So unless you were an old-school fan somehow, or an active cosmic comics reader from 2008-2010, you'd probably have no clue who most of these characters were. That's like,,, F-tier.

Now El Muerto, who is getting a Sony solo movie? That's Z-tier. I don't know if tiers can even go that low.

But if you have a problem, if no one else can help, and if you can find them....maybe you can hire the A-Team.

Now that I know that, perhaps we have the Toy Story 4 ending where Rocket leaves the Guardians to try and be happy with someone special.

I honestly don't remember if I knew who Iron Man was pre 2008. I certainly couldn't have told you the first thing about him. Superman is Superman, but otherwise all I knew was Batman/Spiderman/Xmen from 80s/90s movies and animated series.

And Wonder Woman, I take it? Nobody has mentioned her yet. She's A-list.

But not as well known among the mainstream. To say he was B-tier is pretty disingenuous.

A tier is a pretty small list. (Superman, Batman, Spider-Man, Wonder Woman, maybe Wolverine?)

B tier is ones that most people would know even if they aren't comic readers, such as The Flash, Aquaman, Hulk etc.

C tier is about the highest I could possibly see someone ranking Iron Man before 2008. Some others I would put here are Ant Man, Captain Marvel, Black Adam, etc.

In any case, this is all just to give props for being able to kickstart an entire franchise with a relatively unknown character.
maroon barchetta

Unknown to you.

Known to people that read comics and watch the animated shows.

George and Jerry even had a brief debate in the diner about about whether Iron Man wore underwear in his suit or was naked in there. He was totally mainstream at that point.

I think pre-Gadot Wonder Woman was A-list to my parents but obscure to me. Other than a WW cup my mom had, I think I went from childhood to BvS without knowing or seeing anything about her. I'm 34.

I could be entirely alone in that assessment but to me she was kind of a legacy A-lister from a bygone generation.

I disagree that Ironman was unknown, but I've read comic books since the 60's (the bygone generation rhutton mentioned), so what do I know. I consider all of the JLA A-list.

I just wish they'd do something with the Legion of Superheroes. Loved that team. The only thing I've seen of them was an arc in Supergirl.

If anything I would have a more objective opinion on this given that it was your favorite comic and I'm not a comic reader.

I'm sorry it hurt your feelings?

I was in elementary school when Lynda Carter graced the airwaves with her presence. It was a glorious time to be alive no matter how corny the show was.

Can I ask a really dumb question…didn't the green lady die?

Yes, the "original" version of Gamora died. Killed by Thanos. But in Endgame, when our heroes traveled back to 2014, they encountered a version of Gamora who was obviously still alive, and eventually time travelled with 2014 Thanos to 2023, where they faced off against the Avengers & co in the climax. Now, the 2014 version of Gamora is still alive in 2023/the events of GOTG3. However, she had never met Peter, since 2014 Gamora was pre the first GOTG. So when Peter tried to talk to her in the Endgame climax, she kneed him in the nuts and presumably ran off after the battle. Then, the last thing we saw Peter doing, at the very end of Endgame, was run a location search on his ship, in attempt to find 2014 Gamora's whereabouts. Based on this trailer, they obviously find her, and I'm sure Peter will attempt to get her to fall in love with him all over again.

I don't think so, at least for when I was growing up. Everyone knew who Wonder Woman was and there were just as many WW shirts as Superman, Batman, or Spider-Man.

Granted, I did grow up during the heyday of the DCAU, in which Wonder Woman was a badass.

I did also watch the Iron Man animated series, which made him my favorite Marvel character growing up. He was the only Marvel action figure I had and liked. I actually have a picture of one of my birthdays where I opened up a two pack of Juggernaut and Spider-Man and I was upset it wasn't Batman lol.

I've never read a comic book in my life, and I knew who iron man was. Wouldn't say was mainstream like Batman/Superman, but definitely not an obscure/unknown like Gaurdians.

Just saw this earlier today, not sure how much of a spoiler it is, but it was news to me. This is related to a character likely making an appearance in Quantumania.

Funko Pop has a new toy being released for Quantumania so it looks like we're getting MODOK in the movie. I'm guessing William Jackson Harper is playing him since he doesn't have a character name listed on IMDB yet for the film.
