Was perusing the Spider-Man villian list and ran across Morbius which is where he got his start and noticed that is being made into a movie with Jared Leto as Morbius.

Is that right?

Yes, for better or worse.

And I'm pretty excited for Mysterio especially with Jake G. He's someone we haven't seen before but still a name brand villain. The important thing is they got a badass actor and that box is checked.

Marvel can pull off anything. I mean Vulture in theory is pretty ridiculous and lame and Marvel and Keaton killed it. Look at the comic version of Vulture, he looks cheesy as hell. And the Homecoming design is one of the coolest we've seen yet. I bet Mysterio's suit end up pretty awesome.

They've really been nailing the complex villain thing too. One of the knocks against action movies (and some super hero's flicks too) is how paper thin their fools are. The Marvel films of late have give us some great complex and compelling foes. Killmonger, Vulture and even Thanos were all interesting and stole every scene they were in.

Good points on Vulture. Will keep open mind on Mysterio.

This is random, but I enjoyed the Thanos walking through the fields of Elysium like Maximus in the trailer. That's the first thing I thought of when I saw it.

So is Scott Lang actually at the front door, or is that a transmission from the past.

We don't know yet. People are analyzing the time stamp on the video but marvel could have designed that however they wanted for the trailer. Best clue so far is it is modern because he says he met them a few years ago (which would fit the mcu timeline).

So, I've never heard of spiderverse until this thread started mentioning the movie and I saw a commercial. I looked it up on marvel database and I'm still confused by it.

There seems to be hundreds of other Earth's with some form of Spiderman hero on each Earth and someone wants them all dead for some reason.

Were all of these Earth's ever part of any other character's comic or were they all self-contained to a Spiderman comic?

Also, I noticed spiderham and i recognized that for some reason. Looked it up and realized I had read one of those when I was a kid. It was a spoof comic and I guess they have incorporated here which is funny. I used to own the one shot of that. Will see if I still have it in the small collection I've been carrying around since childhood.

Multi-verses are sort of a common thing in Comicbooks. Many writers will have an interesting idea (I know! What if we write about a Medieval team of knights with Avengers!) and then they run with it. Or they'll take a famous story from the comics (Peter Parker failing to save Gwen Stacy) and use the "What if something different occurred" as a writing prompt.

I'm no comic book reader, only occasionally reading one when I hear that an upcoming movie is going to be inspired by the comic book title (Avengers: Age of Ultron, for example) but I know that the multiverse concept is what they use to explain how there can be stories where Batman is a pirate, Batman is in some sort of Dickinson industrial revolution setting and is investigating Jack the Ripper, or is old (Dark Knight Returns) and comes out of retirement. There is even a universe where Bruce Wayne is killed in that fateful night and his father becomes a gun-toting violent Batman and his Martha Wayne snaps and becomes that universes Joker. Sometimes they create stories where these universes can collide and the heroes can meet their counterparts.

In the case of Marvel, beyond just having one-off stories featuring different versions of their famous characters they created a new line of comics set in a different universe with tweaks of their characters as a way to restart their characters without the baggage of 60 years of history. For example, just look at Spiderman. In the "main" universe Peter Parker is in his 20s or 30s, married, etc. In this new universe, Peter is a teenager again who eventually gets killed in a fight and somehow Miles Morales (the young black kid) eventually becomes the new Spiderman in his place. I don't know enough about the other Spidermen out there (trenchcoat guy, spider girl, pig, etc) to talk about them, but I guess they each exist in their own universe.

Probably a mis-direction. Keep in mind one of the earliest shots we saw from Infinity War showed the Hulk running toward the camera along with Cap, Black Widow and Black Panther in Wakanda - yet that was clearly made only for the trailer as Hulk did his hiding thing for most of that movie and Banner was in the Hulk-Buster suit.

Also, the preview for Civil War made it appear as though Bucky Barnes shot down Rhodes, when it was actually Vision.

Please tell me that part of Scott's plan is injecting Luis with truth serum to distract Thanos...

Cap asks if it's a recording and Black Widow responds that it's the front gate, imho, implying that it's a live feed. Also, Scott is driving the van that they had the device in at the end of Ant-Man and Wasp.

do we know if Luis made it past the snap? I think it would be awesome if Luis describes what happens after the snap though.

My guess is...

- Scott somehow found his way out of the Quantum Realm after the Pyms dissolved.

- While in the Quantum Realm, he somehow discovered the "key" to time travel, saving everyone, etc.

- Maybe how he figured his way out of the Quantum Realm and discovering the key to time travel are connected - OR - the snap happening while he was in the Quantum Realm revealed the key to him. Like a glitch or something.

- He then drove the van, with the QR machine inside, to Avengers headquarters.

I'd even be willing to bet the movie opens with Scott in the Quantum Realm when the snap happens.

It kinda depends on how the writers want to use the quantum realm right? Can Scott interact with objects in the QR, not unlike the Tesseract scene in Interstellar? Can Scott choose when or where (both) to exit the QR? I cant imagine the writers will want to get heavy-handed with the physics of it all and we all know time-travel in movies tends to create large plot holes.

Weird that we still don't know any of Marvel's 2020 movies, but we now at least have another 2021 movie to add to the slate (GOTG3 is likely the other so far)...

It's officially happening, but we probably won't have any details on integration for a long while. Maybe we start hearing rumblings next year, but the first time we actually see any of those characters in a Disney-made Marvel movie is likely 2022 or so...

That's interesting! So we know 2019 is Captain Marvel, Avengers 4 and Spider-Man 2.

2020 is seemingly Black Widow, Eternals, and ???

2021 looks to be Black Panther 2, Doctor Strange 2 and Guardians of the Galaxy 3.

What could they possibly plug in for that 2020 release? Wouldn't they need a script by now/soon? Do you think they end up only releasing 2 films in 2020 and get back to 3 per for 2021 and on?

2020 seems like an off year for Disney in general. No Star Wars movie, and potentially only two Marvel movies. That said, we also have to consider Disney+. They'll likely be introducing the second Star Wars series in 2020, along with their first Marvel series, so I guess it might kind of even out?

Well Guardians was supposed to be in 2020. Firing James Gunn left a huge hole in their schedule.

Could there possibly be another Iron Man or Cap movie that they're keeping under wraps until after Endgame is released? Unlikely, I know.

Disney+ will have to fill the MCU void left from Daredevil being cancelled on Netflix imo. The other characters could show up as guests, but losing Daredevil hurt. I'm sure they can do it though. Just have to see if it will drive subscribers in.

I'm kind of hoping that Star Wars moves the anthologies from being movies to being series. I think they can just develop things better that way.

As of now, Marvel only has two dates reserved for 2020, so I doubt it, while every other year scheduled so far has three dates reserved per year. The "open"/skipped date for 2020 is the usual February/March slot, and I just don't see how they could have a surprise ready by then without any kind of announcement up to this point.
