I mean as a movie franchise, their is definitely debate, but as an overall franchise, I don't know that there is any comparison. The Marvel superheroes have been iconic with the US for what, 70 years now? They are basically our times Greek Gods. Hell, one of them is a Norse god.

Although Jedi is an actual religion. We need to get more people back to praying to Thor, as the Good Lord of Thunder intended.

Yeah, that 18th date feels odd. The trailer is absolutely playing with Into the Spider-Verse starting the night of the 13th, so I'd imagine it'll be online before then. It was supposed to be online today, in conjunction with the Comic-Con Brazil debut, but apparently the popularity of the Endgame trailer pushed the Far From Home trailer by a few days.

Have we talked about how completely lame Mysterio is as a villain? They couldn't have done something different there?

They did just fine with vulture. I'm guessing part of the deal with Sony was that marvel doesn't get the A-list villains.

I guess my question is that it seemed like they were setting up scorpion to be the next bad guy at the end of the last one. Maybe he will be working for Mysterio?

I think those two together will be fun, you have the physicality of Scorpion and then whatever trickery is with Mysterio.

Problem with the Spider-Man franchise is that they are either going to have to reboot villains soon and bring back Doc Ock or Electro, or bring in guys like Dr. Doom into the franchise. Although I think a Jake Gylenhall as Doctor Doom would be badass.

Edit: Rhutton and I are thinking the same thing.

I think there's still some villains with potential. Doc Ock, Sandman, Rhino, and some Goblin variant could still be done a few films down the road (and keep in mind it's been 14 years since Doc Ock and Spider-Man 2) , but you could do some cool stuff with Kraven, Mysterio has potential if they take him in more of a Scarecrow/psychological thriller direction, Scorpion is obviously in the works, and we have yet to see Kingpin in the cinematic universe.

Was perusing the Spider-Man villian list and ran across Morbius which is where he got his start and noticed that is being made into a movie with Jared Leto as Morbius.

Is that right?

There's also the theory that we get Sinister Six in Spidey 3. Bring back Vulture, Mysterio and Shocker, add Scorpion, and add Doc Ock and one other in the next one and you're set. Or some combo of that, maybe a secondary villain from Far From Home, maybe Norman Osborn instead of Ock, etc. Lots of possibilities.
