Oh. Haven't seen Dr. Strange yet.

Dude....

You should fix that. It is/was on Netflix last I checked.
Still is as of a few nights ago, definitely worth the watch. It's a lot of fun.

2017 is shaping to be the best year for superhero movies! For me personally, while I liked Logan a lot, that is probably my least favorite of the superhero movies.

In less than 2 weeks we will see where Spidey ranks, but so far, looks like it might go straight to the top!

It's going to be very hard to top gotg2.

That's because if gotg2 ended after baby groot's dance fight scene, I would have left the theatre like "yup, worth every penny"

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/tom-holland-officially-confirms-spider-man-was-in-iron-man-2_us_59508ea4e4b0da2c731c7080

Quote:

It's been a long-held theory that "Captain America: Civil War" and "Spider-Man: Homecoming" aren't Peter Parker's first appearances in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Fans point to a scene from "Iron Man 2" where a little boy in an Iron Man mask stares down a robot at the Stark Expo. There's speculation that this boy may actually be a young Peter Parker.

As evidence, "Iron Man 2" was released in 2010. Since Parker is in his mid-teens in "Spider-Man: Homecoming," which comes out July 7, he would've been about the right age of the kid at the time. Also, the Expo takes place in Queens, Spidey's hometown.

But is this really the future web-slinging hero?
Quote:

Congrats, theorists. We asked Tom Holland, aka the real Spider-Man, if the theory is true, and he officially confirmed it. In fact, he triple-confirmed it, and he got the info straight from Marvel boss Kevin Feige.

"It is Peter Parker," said Holland.

"It is?" we asked.

"I can confirm that, that is Peter Parker," Holland said.

"No way, for sure?" we asked again.

"I can confirm that as of today. I literally had a conversation with Kevin Feige only 20 minutes ago. Maybe I've just done a big, old spoiler, but it's out there now," said Holland. "It's cool. I like the idea that Peter Parker has been in the universe since the beginning."

And details like that are why the MCU is so darn good.

Red Five

I don't think it's a retcon at all. I think they put it in as an easter egg, something they would never confirm but let people speculate about because its fun. Then when they were able to work the deal with Sony they can say, "yes, that was our intention."

That said, yeah, it's also easy to claim you meant that when there is no way to prove otherwise.

Yeah, really easy to say that now...when back during iron man 2 they had no clue they'd get Spider-Man in the mcu.

Sure, but that's not the point.

There's no way to have known that they'd be able to use Peter Parker, but they've built a universe with a sense of place and interconnectedness where it's totally possible and feels right. And it very well may have been a writer or director saying "this kid could totally be Peter Parker" and it totally makes sense that 8 year old Peter would've been at a science expo in New York because he was a geeky little kid who grew up idolizing Tony Stark.

There's a sense of history to the world that allows it to happen, and that's the real magic in what they've been able to put together.

It's like Dave Filoni saying he thinks a random rebel soldier in Jedi is the same character created for an animated star wars show 20+ years later.

Totally agree. While they may not have a plan for every single one, leaving the OPPORTUNITY to let it happen is smart.

I see what you did there.

Mine actually was a quote and I want to see if anyone gets it.

I'm not sure if this has been covered in this thread or not but does any one else think it's weird that at the beginning of the Black Panther trailer Andy Serkis is saying Wakanda is kept secret and hidden but in Civil War the whole world knew about them and recognized them as a nation?

It was all in the news that black panther's dad died from the bomb in Civil War. Andy Serkis said he is the only one who has seen it and made it out alive. You would think other diplomats would have traveled to Wakanda before allowing their president speak in front of the EU or whatever.

Does anyone have any better insight into this?

It's not that Wakanda is a secret, it's that the rest of the world thinks it's just a poor, "third world country." The secret is that it's actually a highly advanced society. Seems pretty straightforward to me.

Wouldn't it be easy to tell that it's not just poor by simply visiting it? Surely other people from other governments have been there.

Idk guess I'm thinking too much into it. It is a comic book movie after all.

Although that does make it odd that his dad was a target. I don't think many people know/care about the president of most small third world countries.

His dad was obviously the intended target to the viewers, but couldnt it appear just as plausible for the target to be any number of other foreign leaders in attendance? (Not to mention the fact there were Avengers there, who would just as likely be targeted).

But yea, we're all definitely overthinking it lol

I don't think just anyone got to visit the super secret part of the country with all the advanced stuff.

T'Chaka was only prominent once he spoke up after some of his citizens died in Lagos.

I don't think T'Chaka was the target. Bombing the UN was the target. Getting Bucky exposed and eventually captured was the goal.

This made me think of having a really crappy wooden wild west style set that tips over, except of a desolate and poor country.

"Oh yes, this is our tribe and our tents. We are very poor. Nothing to see here"
