A few miscellaneous MCU villain thoughts on this very-boring Friday morning:
1) I guess because everyone wants a happy ending, every villain is defeated at the end of each film. Only exceptions are Loki (Thor 2, and he was more of an ally in this one) and Thanos (who is across the galaxy, for all intents and purposes, until Infinity War.)
2) This essentially means the status quo in the MCU is peace. There are no villains. A villain pops up, the heroes defeat it, and everything goes back to peace.
3) I'm hoping that Spider-Man: Homecoming will start to populate the world with villains. It's very possible that they're all defeated by the end, but it's all but confirmed that this film will have Vulture, Tinkerer, Shocker, and whoever Logan Marshall-Green is playing. Courtesy spoiler tags. Spidey may beat them all in 120 minutes, but I'd love for there to be more potential threats out there. If anyone can get some super tech and become a hero, why can't there be just as many villains out there?
4) I want a team of supervillains. Sinister Six gets brought up from time to time. Instead of an army of robots, why not unite villains and have them face off against Spider-Man and/or the Avengers?
5) The MCU might also benefit from some villains in the same vein as Loki - can be an antagonist or an antihero at times. People you'll want to keep around for more than one film. I'm thinking someone like Venom. Punisher and Elektra pulled it off on Netflix.
6) I think you need a smart, recurring villain that is slippery and always has a backup plan, too. Someone like Doctor Doom.
Back to work!
