A month's subscription to Marvel Unlimited is also well worth it for something like that. I have a friend who lets me use his account (which as far as we can tell is totally within their user agreement) and read a bunch of the Spidey Civil War stories last night.

Speaking of, those made me wish we had a bit older Peter Parker for this film because there's some really interesting Tony Stark/Peter Parker storylines to explore.

Figured he'd be the one. Guess it's a pretty solid hire. He's a good actor... just hard to imagine him as a super hero. He seems like such a little softy.

I do love the idea that Spiderman is just a kid (and actually looks like one), and he's going to be interacting with guys like Tony Stark, Captain America and Thor. The frustration those guys will have working with a smartass teenager who probably thinks he knows everything and is reckless (I'm assuming?). Think it will be a really fun and original angle.

I'm guessing Spiderman at some point in time was an Avenger right?

Yes, in the early 2000's he joined the "New Avengers". The premise was to make the Avengers a premier team with all of the Marvel universe's top characters while also adding some diversity. It featured Cap, Iron Man, Spidey, Wolverine, Spider-Woman, Luke Cage, and a Superman-clone called the Sentry. He's stayed with the Avengers ever since.

I don't really "see it". He's not a bad actor per se, but I would've rather seen a Freddie Highmore or Logan Lerman in the role.

It really is weird/random. I think back in the day they used to be way more Latin-movie-news oriented, but they were so good at what they did, they started to expand to cover everything. Here's an interview with Kellvin Chavez, the site's founder, that goes into a lot of the site's history...

Their main scoop guy, Umberto Gonzalez, just left LR a couple weeks ago to do his own site/venture, though, so I can see LR slowly starting to fade away. He was their big gun and he's getting so popular he wanted to try his hand at a superhero scoops only site, since that's his speciality. Umberto's a great follow on twitter too. He treats scoop hunting like he's some kind of FBI operative/big game hunter and it's pretty funny to watch him call his shots and try to piss off as many people as he can...

Oh yeah, big time. Umberto used to work in LA for some producer in '90s, I think. He was a huge hustler. And all the assistants he used to know back then have climbed to higher executive positions at agencies and studios. Marvel, in particular, basically has a mole of some sort that feeds Umberto so much info. And Feige can't stand him because Umberto announces everything before Marvel can officially. It's hilarious.

To be fair, any Marvel scoop isn't coming just from Marvel. These guys always get confirmation from multiple sources before running anything. So with the Butterfield news, for instance, they probably have an agency connection as well, along with a connection in some other facet of the industry.
