Am I the only person who didn't like D'Onofrio's Kingpin?

I really liked the show, and he's a really good actor. But I just did not care for his take on him at all.

You might be. I love the undertone of the Man Without Fear taking on a powerful man who is, deep down, afraid of everything.
His voice bothered me at times - it didn't feel natural enough. I liked his take on Kingpin, just felt the execution wasn't always there in the voice department.

Initially I thought his mannerisms and voice were a little odd, but they grew on me. His scene at the end of episode 4 was what put it over the top to me. That was so amazing and perfect to me. A guy who holds so much in to appear always in control, but occasionally just completely loses it.

One of my friends made the same comment about Fisk's voice being "off" to him.

I loved it and his voice set it all up for me. It was very unnatural, but I felt like that's what they were going for.

His voice to me is a man who literally struggles to overcome his own insecurity just to speak. Like he's always on the verge of just clamming up or screaming, one or the other.

Yup, exactly what I thought. Emphasizes how emotionally stunted he is.

New topic, but is anyone else concerned about Marvel's habit of killing off its villains at the end of every movie? The franchise is doing great, but if we could get a couple more adversaries who stick around like Loki does, that would take it up a notch. (Also, if they run out of villains, things could nosedive quick.)

Sure, we know Thanos is out there and we've seen him twice, but he's 100% undeveloped.

I don't know a great deal about the comics, though... Are there any untapped villains who could fill this role? Maybe Osborn (Green Goblin) when Spider Man joins the crew? Maybe bring back Red Skull? Maybe Ultron survives?

I get that... But it's not the Kingpin. Someone like that wouldn't be the most powerful crime boss in NYC.

For one, they aren't going to be making these same movie series forever. I doubt they run out of villains before all is said and done.

Second, it's a huge annoyance of mine when characters stay around when they have business staying around.

Like who? I don't think any of the ones who really matter have ate it.

Loki isn't going anywhere.
Justin Hammer is still alive.
Someone said you can't really kill Ultron because he's in the cloud or whatever.
There are a lot of rumors that Red Skull isn't really dead and will come back.

Spiderman joining up will be good. He's got better villains than the other Avengers.

Am I the only one that doesn't think Loki is great? He's not terrible, but I'd never list him as a memorable villain in any other universe.

I'd put him as one of the best villains ever, and gives Stark/Iron Man a run for his money for best character in the MCU.

For all the horrible villains Marvel puts out, I have to agree/admit that Loki is one of the all time greats. Super fun to watch. I wish he'd become the main villain in Infinity War. Everything I've seen/heard of Thanos so far sucks. Not the least bit intimidating/competent.

Crossbones also has potential to be a good villain, especially given his comic book history

The thing I like most about Lolinis his versatility. He can play both sides and create interesting scenarios.

Good points on some of the forces out there I'm forgetting. Still, I hope we get some villains making repeat appearances down the road.

Man is this the truth. When I first started reading about him, comic readers were saying this is the mother of all bad guys... So far the guy has come off as incompetent. Ronan dissed him, and killed his right hand man in front of him. Loki outsmarted him. He hasn't done one thing right, he just sits in his chair. Plus his voice sucks. Marvel needs to get it together with the villain voices.

Too Bad Dr. Doom is tied up with Fox. Maybe they can work out a Spiderman type deal with him. Doom is a great comics villain.
Kang could be also be cool, but I'm not sure they want to add in time travel into the MCU yet.
Seems like by adding in Guardians and Captain Marvel MCU is adding in space stories, so maybe the Skrull are coming.

Isn't the real Mandarin still out there? I heard they did a short one-shot scene where someone working for the Mandarin shows up to attack Trevor while he's in jail.

All Hail The King

No clue if Marvel really plans on bringing him back, but I'm guessing not. When would they fit him in? He's supposed to be Iron Man's arch nemesis... but he's a really dated, silly and racist character.

I think they could modernize it somewhat, and the idea of an advanced terrorist organization could make for a fun enemy (but probably for an individual film, not Avengers).

Is Dr. Doom ever used in an Avengers storyline? I thought he and Iron Man fought at some point. He'd be a great villain if done correctly.

I'm looking forward to more Crossbones. He has potential.

I think the Skrull are a sure thing down the road, probably tied into the Guardians/Captain Marvel end of things.

Having Spidey on the team allows for Norman Osborn to be used as a villain for the New Avengers.

I think a revival of Hammer in some way would be great. Perhaps have him be a recurring tech dealer to villains. He was too much fun to leave on the sideline.

Those of you haven't seen Age of Ultron yet and want to catch up (I'm seeing it Saturday), but don't have 25 straight hours to watch the entire MCU, The Verge has put together this FANTASTIC, 13-minute recap showcasing the events of MCU as they happened, in historical order. Really, this is super well done...

couple of errors:

Thanos gave loki "an" infinity stone, not "the" infinity "stones"
Ronin doesn't attack the Kree Homeworld. He is Kree, and attacks Nova

otherwise, awesome summation.

Also: I didn't realize that Thor 1, Hulk, and Iron Man 2 happened simultaneously.
