This is like thinking having Ross Bjork and some of the Board of Regents people on the sidelines would have won us more games this season.

Is there an article with some quotes or something? Really curious about this

Crazy as it sounds, that's literally what he said:

Quote:

'The Marvels' was shot during Covid," Iger explained. "There wasn't as much supervision on the set, so to speak, where we have executives [that are] really looking over what's being done day after day after day."
Variety: 'The Marvels' Suffered From a Lack of 'Supervision on the Set,' Says Bob Iger; Disney CEO Admits Studio Has 'Made Too Many' Sequels Recently

I'm really curious how that has all happened.

Everything leading into Infinity War/Endgame was SO interconnected, then after that they just went…nah?

Maybe trying to prevent leaks? Or perhaps with schedules shifting so much due to COVID they just had to ditch whatever references they had planned?

Still, that doesn't explain the Multiverse of Madness creators not talking with the WandaVision folks. That's just insane to me.

Lol. I'm sure the creatives and Directors are thrilled to hear that Iger thinks quality can't happen without the corporate suits micro-managing them.

But considering what we've gotten maybe he is correct...but then I think about he and his teams involvement with Star Wars ST and makes you wonder if he has selective amnesia.

It still blows my mind how little they tied in No Way Home, Loki, and Multiverse of Madness. (As in not at all.)

Three events that just so happen to involve multiverses, and yet all three of them happen completely independently of each other. What a coincidence.

It was a perfect opportunity to have a single massive event that causes everything.
What did you expect Kathleen Kennedy to be doing? No time for that when she's working on expanding the number of genders in the universe.

I've lost some bets on TA before, but at least I can say I've never missed THIS badly on a prediction.

This one is gonna be hard to top, TPE.

So is Majors convicted yet? I looked at a picture of the girl he is accused of assaulting and it just blows me away the women the rich movie stars get with. Dude could have done better. Not quite as bad as von millers baby momma though. Von, your gf, woof.

Was curious about this but sounds like they're referring to the international box office results right?

Don't see how they could avoid the domestic stuff here in the US…

Some of those are a long time ago.

Ticket prices were much lower.

That's even more telling about The Marvels. They aren't getting there even with 2023 ticket prices.

There are over 800 movies to rach 100 M. I was quickly going thru the 100-120 range and picked ones that caught my eye.

It's a travesty that Con Air isn't top 10 all time.

It's currently the 924th highest grossing movie of all time.

But it did have the biggest opening weekend for any movie with a black female director.

I saw it this weekend with my 8 year old. I enjoyed it more than I thought I would, mostly because I had zero expectations.

nah just read through and this is for international box office only

Quote:

The studio wrote on Sunday in a note to press, "With 'The Marvels' box office now winding down, we will stop weekend reporting of international/global grosses on this title."

Which makes sense cause if film studios could hide their domestic box office results anytime they had a flop there would be MASSIVE issues

They're leaving it out until New Year's. I bet they'll do some fancy accounting to get it to $100 million flat - lots of discounts and magical showings that sell out. If you ever want to see some shady Disney practices, check out the last month of Black Panther's run in theaters where it magically scraped out an extra $ 4 million to get up to $700 million.

It's actually pretty incredible (and SUPER IRONIC)....that the one upcoming movie (Deadpool 3) for all of 2024 could be the biggest bright spot for the MCU in terms of box office results.....and that the only reason why we can even discuss Deadpool 3 being a bright spot is because the original test footage from the original Deadpool was "leaked accidentally" and the massive explosions from fans loving it made it happen....

imagine that....listening to fans about characters they're passionate about being a positive thing.....pretty crazy concept right?

......right?

It's funny too that originally Disney had nothing to do with the Deadpool movies.

And the first one only got made due to Ryan Reynolds' insistence.
