So, never read it but familiar with it. Couldn't this be House of M?
I eye-rolled when the character was announced and then quickly perked my ears when Michael Keaton was going to play the roll. He's awesome.CowtownAg06 said:
Vulture is really interesting. Not in a would win in a fight way, but as a character.
Yes.MooreTrucker said:
Not the best, but surprisingly good given his prior movies.
You're probably right about Thanos across a large group of people voting. Personally, I don't think he's that interesting. He's powerful, but he's really just a crazy mf'er. I think Loki is way more interesting.CoachRTM said:Thanos would roll - not really close.ChipFTAC01 said:
I finished watching Iron Man today and Obadiah is such a great villain. Surprise, surprise Jeff Bridges is a good actor. I'd like to do a tournament of all of the MCU villains.
Some of the others would make good matchups though.
Loki, Justin Hammer, Klaw and Killmonger all come to mind as fun, interesting villains.
The one recurring criticism I've noted regarding the MCU is its lack of memorable villains. Now I don't necessarily agree with that, as I'd rank Thanos as one of the best I've ever seen as well as Loki, Red Skull, Obadiah Stane, and maybe Killmonger.redline248 said:You're probably right about Thanos across a large group of people voting. Or put another way, I don't know how much I would enjoy watching a limited series of Thanos's adventures in time.

Thanos was well-realized over the series of films from The Avengers in 2012 up to his back-to-back opus in IW and Endgame. Just enough was mentioned or shown to keep audiences interested, notably with an appearance in Guardians of the Galaxy. Crazy? Perhaps, but I rather saw him as motivated to solve what he saw as a problem. His solution certainly is crazy.
Loki is an interesting one. He doesn't come across as a powerful figure, yet he is quite capable of inflicting loads of damage. He is a snake in the weeds, your best buddy in one moment and sticking a knife in your back the next.
Yeah my wife noticed that too. I think they were setting up Cap plowing Sharon to it... but it works out this way too.dave94 said:
HOLY SH*****T!!!!! When Cap gets to his apt. and Fury is there, the same song he danced with Peggy at the end of Endgame is playing!!!
Winter Soldier is my personal favorite, for all the reasons you said, the elevator fight, the good soundtrack and just the score in general. Good use of humor, and it was the first MCU the Russo brothers directed, straight off of directing some epiodes of one of my personal favorites Community.AgfromHOU said:
Winter Soldier has to be my favorite CBM other than the Dark Knight Trilogy. I love that it doesn't follow the Marvel formula and instead gives you badass action and a great plot. The Fury chase, the Bucky/Cap knife fight, all the badass spy stuff. It's just a really great action flick.
I think I saw that Georges St Pierre (Batroc) is supposed to be in Falcon and the Winter Soldier.
When I watched this for the first time I half expected Black Widow to be in with Hydra. Would have been a great twist.
That still gets to me.....Quote:
when he hears "On your left ..." and Falcon comes flying through that portal.
And that the Russo brothers jumped from one minute directing episodes of "Community" to making the best Marvel film is just mind-blowing.....fig96 said:
Same, the achievement that went into Endgame is pretty amazing but Winter Soldier is still my favorite single film.
It was the first real genre film that Marvel did, and the Russos gave us an incredible action/espionage film with a really relevant theme and the perfect scenario to challenge Steve's belief system (not to mention Bucky). And it's insanely rewatchable.
I mean, we some some massive PTSD from Tony Stark over multiple movies until his death. And Wanda being practically depressed in Civil War. But they could definitely add some more. It really gave weight to what these people went through, even as powerful as they were.Decay said:
The one thing I wished we got more of was the way they dealt with the personal aspects of war. Can't sleep in your bed, the veteran's group, unpacking your PTSD... was so poignant and powerful to have a blockbuster spend the time to describe something lots of people can relate to.
We got a scene in Endgame with Steve taking up the torch but it just felt like they could have done a little more with it. Sam puts on the wings and he never talks about his feelings ever again. He's just like, hell yeah let's do more war!!
He also helped his PTSD by building a crap-ton of seemingly job-specific suits of armor....Decay said:
I thought about that too but again, he just kinda solved his PTSD by superheroing harder. But you always appreciate seeing a superhero struggle in ways that's not just "this bad guy is too strong"
Especially since Bucky should have MASSIVE PTSD.bluefire579 said:
That's a good point. I wonder if it's something they could explore in Falcon and Winter Soldier. A series would definitely allow for a broader canvas for themes like that than a movie

I've rewatched Thor 1 many times. It's a decent origin story.
I've had no desire to watch Captain Marvel again. The only reason I would is because it did seem to do a little to set up the future of the Marvel universe. So to that effect, it would be important in the grand scheme. But as a standalone movie, it was really not needed to establish the character and was pretty blah.
