I don't know why Marvel isn't doing a final marketing push for Endgame leading into Spider Man. Seems like with the other blockbusters mostly underperforming like you mentioned, and the fact that it does look like a direct epilogue, they'd be trying to get people in for one last run before Far From Home.

Especially since they're now less than 56 million from the all time record. Maybe they think they'll get it with a re-release? Or do they really just not care? Seems like Feige and Co. would love to have that feather in their cap considering how close they are.

Either way, I do think Spidey has a huge run

FFH will be huge. My prediction of $600M+ may be optimistic but I think 400 is almost guaranteed.

They might a week or two before FFH. I think that Endgame will get an organic bump the week before and after the release of FFH anyway.

I guess I'm curious how they are going to resolve what I, at least perceive, as a scale problem for Kong vs Godzilla. In that last Kong movie they were all over the place with his relative scale to humans.

To answer my own question, they will just ignore the last movie and simply scale him up to match size but it's going to bug me.

Different universes. Legendary's Monsterverse vs Universal's monster universe (Mummy, Frankenstein, Invisible Man, etc.). Neither are doing too hot.

something of an aside, but i've started re-watching all of the MCU with my 12yr old daughter and I don't think I appreciated just how insanely popular Tom Holland and Zendaya are with that demographic. just another brilliant casting decision by Marvel.

Talking with my buddy who is a hardcore Marvel fanboy, I came up with the theory that they'll have two separate Avengers teams going forward, one in Earth and one in space (Cosmic).

The reason being, you can't really top Thanos as far as universal threats that would need them to come together. It would be impossible to try to top Endgame in that regard.

i agree completely.

i like the idea of two sets of "avengers" and it seems natural to separate into Earth and Cosmic. if they slow-build long enough, they could introduce and use the FF as the "connective tissue" between the two separate conflicts.

Read that rumor report from earlier this week. I think it's on the previous page. It sounds like they're basically doing exactly this - separating them into Earth-bound and Cosmic, except the Big Bad for Earth going forward will be Norman Osborne? I don't know why Marvel would swing that big with a character they don't technically own, but the report seemed pretty convincing, and was from that same guy who has been spot-on a ton before.

Agreed as well. I think you absolutely can top Thanos as a villain, but it makes more sense not to try. There was enough of a build up from Avengers 1 that it made it semi-personal for Tony, Cap, etc. Then he of course had the history with Gamora and Drax, and then killed Loki in front of Thor, snapped Hawkeye's family, etc. Having two movies to spend on it helped a ton as well.

It makes a ton of sense to split the cosmic and the earth-bound, because there's currently not much tying them together. What team ever had Shang Chi, Spider-Man, Captain Marvel, Star-Lord, Doctor Strange and Black Panther? None, really. They're about as dispersed as you could pick.

But you could easily have some team-ups and cross-overs among that group. For example:

Earth: Spider-Man, Black Panther, Shang Chi, Falcon, War Machine, Hulk, Scarlet Witch, Doctor Strange, Thor, Fantastic Four, Captain Marvel

Cosmic: Guardians of the Galaxy, Thor, Fantastic Four, Captain Marvel, Nova


THEN AGAIN... it really was that easy for Endgame to say "Who hasn't been to space?" and have literally every major character meet each other in the final battle. War Machine isn't traditionally a space character, for example, but he did it twice in Endgame. Silver Surfer comes to earth in the comics, Hulk went to space in Ragnarok, etc. There's enough logical crossover for Thor, FF, Captain Marvel, etc. for them to bring someone along for the ride.

Maybe the best way to look at it is by villains. Doctor Doom is predominantly earth-based, but he does venture into space from time to time. Magneto is predominantly earth-focused. Galactus is cosmic but comes to earth. Korvac is a GotG villain who comes to earth and fights the Avengers. The Kree and Skrulls are cosmic but frequently come to earth. The Shi'ar are cosmic but regularly encounter the X-Men. Annihilus is predominantly cosmic. Etc. etc.

Personally, I think the two live in their own realms, but you have enough Thors, Captain Marvels and Fantastic Fours to bridge the gap at any time. Spider-Man meets the Human Torch, Galactus comes to earth, suddenly Spider-Man is in space again. Things like that, if it ever makes logical sense. But I doubt we'll have another Endgame-style, "literally every character" kind of cross-over again. Before too long that will just be too much!

Part of what made the series so great was the fantastic casting. They're going to have a hard time keeping that up.

I like the idea of Norman Osborne being the next "big bad." Especially if they turn them into a rich industrialist/powerful political figure.

That would open up introducing Harry in the Spider-Man franchise and letting him turn into the Green Goblin and Norman trying to cover it up.

I'd be fine with all that, especially if they can knock it out of the park with the casting. Bryan Cranston, maybe?

The rumor a year or two ago was Matthew McConaughey was in talks for Norman Osborn. I think that could be pretty good, but it seems like they've moved on from that.


Keanu is definitely in talks with Marvel now. All signs seem to be pointing to him playing someone in the Eternals although I did see a report saying he may be up for Dr. Doom... Personally, I don't buy that, and think him as some mystical, ancient, alien good guy in the MCU seems like another spot on casting decision...

I do think Keanu could've been a pretty awesome Dr. Strange though.

I still think Marvel should write a check for whatever it takes to Daniel Day Lewis and have him play Dr Doom..
