There isn't enough of her in Endgame to determine that she needs to be "fixed" unless you're going off of what was SAID ON HERE about her movie.

Especially since Endgame was filmed before Captain Marvel.

She comes across as an ******* in that movie. My wife doesn't read Texags and she didn't like her at all

Maybe it works if you see her stand alone, but it is very off-putting if this is your first introduction to the character.

That's not even to mention that she is ridiculously OP and will have to either be nerfed or "busy" for majority of movies to give any of the other heroes something to do.

But Tony is charming, and RDJ as an actor was able to portray narcissism AND humility since his very first movie.

CM is just straight up narcissism, and the acting performance is very flat through two movies.

Oh I didn't say that she was great, just that her limited time in Endgame was too small to judge.

I felt as though I had already spent enough time on this and I don't want to seem obsessed. I wanted to like her.

Wanda has had a whole lot less screen time than her, yet I feel so much more connected to her. I *get* what motivates her, what drives her, why she is who she is.

Marvel got a whole movie and I don't get it.

I'm purposely using a different character woth every point I make to reiterate that she is the worst.

People have said "oh she is sassy" even in her sassy lines it doesnt land as well.

Let's take antman. Scott lang is definition sarcastic/sassy humor but as a person, he is so genuine and good natured, he doesn't seem ******y.

Put Cap marvel in the "America's Ass" dialogue and the tone would have changed entirely. Not in a good way. Would have been sarcastic and almost unfriendly.

Very well put.

This seemed like such a simple, no-brainer. All they had to do was take Ryan Reynolds character from Green Lantern and Maverick from Top Gun, and then make that character a woman. The fun-loving, cocky female test pilot - something we've never seen before. She ultimately learns humility, sacrifice, etc., but is still that fun-loving character at heart in the end.

Also, never, ever, ever, ever give a character amnesia. It's never once worked. And I don't see what it added to this story. She still could have come to that same, triumphant, "I am human" epiphany without actually forgetting she was human. And worse, it just made Larson's wooden acting even more wooden, seeing as the literal conceit of the character is that she's a blank slate.

And then of course there's the casting itself. Larson never made sense, and I'll never understand why "stoic" was chosen over "fun" in terms of both the character and the actress, especially for someone that is apparently supposed to be the new face of the entire MCU.

It's just strange to see Marvel miss like this so completely, across the board.

Not trying to nitpick, but I didn't see Ant-Man as sassy at all. He takes **** from everyone. Never tells anyone off. I guess CM is a take-no-**** character. She's also only had about 5 seconds to play off other characters, which sucks, because that was something I was really hoping to see. I didn't care for Hulk in his solo movie (different actor, granted), but him playing off Tony and Natasha was one of the highlights of the first Avengers film.

I also think CM has an unfair burden of having to (or being propped up into a position to) represent female power everywhere. If she "learns humility," that could easily be construed as "she learned her place," or something where she had to temper that feistyness and get in line or something like that. That's something they're going to have to do better on when writing CM2, because yeah - she comes across as less "cocky and brash" and more "an all-powerful *****."

I don't like hotheaded characters... it makes you want to see them humbled. They need to do better with her, for sure.

How dare you besmirch The Bourne Identity.

Anyway, I understand people being so meh on Captain Marvel. I think she's fine and enjoyed her movie, and I got hyped when she came and blew up the ship in Endgame. And her little "Hello Peter Parker." Thought that was great. Still I get that she doesn't work for everybody yet and her off screen persona definitely predisposes some people to dislike her.

But to act like Marvel just knocks it out of the park with every character's introduction is silly. For every Iron Man, Black Panther or Spidey (Both introduced in CW), there's a Thor, who many did not warm up to until Ragnarok. Or Wanda (who Marvel is being compared to above), who I did not care about in Ultron or Civil War really, but fell in love with in Infinity War. Hell I know people that didn't like Cap until The Winter Soldier.

Maybe it was a mistake by Marvel to try to rush her into the spotlight in this phase, but I don't think this is some crazy, uncharacteristic misstep by them. It's happened before and it's been fixed very easily.

I don't know if it was discussed in here, but what the biggest thing the last Far From Home trailer taught me was that Marvel has the perfect method for introducing mutants and the Fantastic Four with the revelation that there is a multiverse now.

I think it's a bluff on Mysterio's part and he's full of it.

But I also think it's true that there is a multiverse (Endgame said as much), but we won't see that as the major plot point for the MCU overall, with new characters crossing over from other realities. I think it will be the destruction of the stones that changes things going forward and introduces mutants. And exploring the multiverse is the perfect avenue for the Fantastic 4.

I think one of the points from the movie that could be used to explain mutants is the scene where black widow is explaining the massive amount of energy released when the snap happened. Not only did that occur, but there were two additional snaps that occurred after that point, all on earth. Could be an easy way to explain crazy stuff happening.

yeah, my theory has been that the gene was always there, but it was dormant. the snap could've activated the gene.

Hopefully that just accelerates the appearance, and not just causes mutants. A lot of important mutants (Magneto, Xavier, Wolverine, Apocalypse) all have backstories and history that go further back than 2018.

There's also - sometimes - a sense of mystery regarding where mutants come from. If they're sudden and scary and unpredictable, then it helps fuel that "mutant hysteria" that is so important to X-Men lore. If it's just "scientists know exactly where it came from, and unfortunately your son now has blue skin," it kind of takes some of the oomph away. Harder to feel guilty about having mutant powers when it's from a magical gauntlet, instead of because your family line contains the gene that produces freaks.

Either way, Feige has said that it will be a long while before we see X-Men. Maybe they'll point back to this event someday, but it probably won't be for a few years.

Spoiler alert - those are ALWAYS anti-male, anti-white. I had a female coworker, an A&M grad to boot, who got up in front of one of these meetings and stated, quite matter-of-factly, that it was bad that men look at women's boobs. She had some suggestions for how to fix this "problem" but I tuned everything else she said out, as I was looking at her boobs.

Supposed to be 5 plus years before they start doing X-Men stuff.

I personally think they need to excellerate getting wolverine involved.

Would be cool to see a stand off between fury and Xavier.

so does Endgame have another $300mil in it?

i think it's going to be pretty close. if you just used Infinity War's performance after Week 3, it's going to be insanely close, as it did another $112mil or so domestic and roughly $162mil foreign after Week 3.

Endgame has obviously outpaced Infinity War thus far, so i think it's got a pretty good shot. plus, if it gets close in the next 2-3 weeks, i think you might see an uptick in sales just from those who want to dethrone avatar

I wonder if they'll push to see it leading up to Far From Home. "Last chance to see Endgame in theatres before Spider-Man".

Endgame will end up #1 all time internationally and #2 domestically.
