That is a beautiful little piece of design.

5 eps into Luke Cage now and I'm intrigued to see how they develop the Power Man/Iron Fist relationship.

Black Panther cast keeps getting better and better. Forest Whitaker is joining in:

I hope it is good but I'm worried it may be the first Marvel flop. One of my favorite from the old nerd comic book days of yore.

If they could make Ant Man a hit, there's no reason at all this one will flop... He's probably better known, the trailers look fantastic and the buzz seems great. Plus they got one of the best actors in the world along with one of the most impressive casts they've assembled yet. I can't wait for this one.

I would say they've had a few flps before (Thor 2 anyone?), but with the cast and how money the MCU has been I would say at worst it'll be good.

Personally, the Thor movies have possibly been the worst of the lot. I think Thor 2 would have been an even bigger miss if it hadn't been for Loki/Hiddleston. It's hard for me to count Norton's Hulk film in the MCU considering I think Rufalo kills it as Banner, but with Hurt having been in Civil War I guess I have to. Plus the tone in the Hulk movie vs the rest of the MCU feels different to me.

Plus the Hulk film is one of the only films in the MCU that I haven't watched again since I initially saw it.

640 million on a 170 million budget is not a flop.

I was about to say - Thor 2 may be looked back on as a disappointment, but I think that's just because the bar has been raised. It's a very alright superhero film. Some laughs, some destruction, some decent action, and things kind of hum along as they always have. But commercially and even critically, it was not a failure. Not a smash hit or mega surprise, but it was a successful little film.

I think Avengers and Winter Soldier kind of changed the game for superhero films. People want crossovers, other genres explored, and real stakes. Iron Man 3 and Thor 2 are in an unfortunate awkward spot - they kind of get caught doing more of the same, in between two of the best MCU films (if not the two best superhero films since Dark Knight).

Here's hoping Doctor Strange continues the trend of bringing new things to the table.

Hulk has actually held up pretty well for me, a better watch than I think some remember and some fun action bits. It's really odd seeing Ty Burrell in a straight role though

I kind of think that Benedict Cumberbatch has actually become well enough known and respected by the average movie goer that he may bring in some theater patrons that might have waited until it came out on video. As much as Paul Rudd is liked I think Cumberbatch adds more weight to this movie than Rudd did to Ant-Man

Sitting in a theater about to check out the 15-minute IMAX preview.

I remember the Guardians preview got me super stoked for that one, here's hoping for a repeat.

I will report back!

John Campea (Collider) said that the visuals put Inception to shame.

First movie in a long time that I really want to see in 3D. Usually I stay away.

The way Iron Fist's fist glows reminds me of the Extremis people in IM3. Not sure if that is good, bad, or indifferent.

That sneak preview was freaking badass.

At first it almost felt like the visual spectacle of the astral plane was too much, but then it quickly seemed just right for what they were going for. It is really an amazing job of representing something that is so out there.

The sound, color and 3D were topnotch. There was one scene, the one that will definitely be compared to Inception, that literally gave me a bit of vertigo.

Cumberbatch was also as good as you would expect.

This is now a must see on opening weekend.

"Soon" likely means in the next two-three weeks, btw. Either one could drop online any day now, but I bet we at least don't see GotG2 in theaters until Doctor Strange on November 4.

The only recent trailer that I was genuinely surprised about was 10 Cloverfield Lane (it was attached to 13 Hours)

I wonder if it will be attached to an episode of Jimmy Kimmel like Civil War.

Edit: Cumberbatch is on Kimmel on Thursday. If I'm betting blue stars, I'd say that we get the GotG trailer then.

Reread my post. They can drop online anytime. Sometimes it's a few days before and sometimes it's a whole two weeks before.

I read it the first time, but the point of the question was that to imply that sooner than a few days before theaters seems unlikely.

Sorry, I misinterpreted your point. Marvel is kind of all over the place. Sometimes they release trailers online the same week it debuts in theaters and sometimes they release trailers a couple weeks before. Usually when a trailer is registered it doesn't take more than a week for it to hit online. But it doesn't make since to release the GotD trailer in theaters before Doctor Strange, so my guess is that this will be one of the ones that releases online a couple weeks before it hits theaters. Either way, we don't have to wait much longer.

Totally forgot that Doctor Strange releases on October 25 in the UK, hence the "early" registration of the trailers. So I'd definitely expect each trailer online by next Tuesday.
