My understanding is that there is a "post credit scene" shortly after the movie ends, but not final one at the very end.

So there is a super spoiler thing going on the internet right now about the Avengers post credit (it was previously said by Whedon that there wasn't one) and if it's real, it's pretty cool, but it's not confirmed. I'm not going to say what it is because I don't want to spoil, but just be aware to avoid it. If it is fake though, it's a very good fake.

Haven't heard anything about it and will be avoiding all things Avengers as much as possible from here out, but I thought the no post credit scene declaration from Whedon was a fake out. That's pretty much Marvel's calling card. Nobody creates anticipation like they do.
But Whedon specifically said there is no post-credit scene so that people won't stay after and then be disappointed. Why would he tell people that so they'd go ahead and leave, and then stick in a p-c scene after all? That's just piss people off.

Starting to see more reviews coming are along the lines of "Good, but not great" and "Meh".

Obviously avoid if you're worried about spoilers.

Read one review that said if felt like a mid-season finale.

That is exactly the thing I was worried about and my biggest complaint about the MCU. With things planned out so many years in advance, the stakes automatically feel lower when you know there's so many more movies to come.

I'm sure ill enjoy it, but it sucks knowing the events of this movie probably won't have any major deaths/repercussions, or feel climactic.

I guess that isn't a concern for me in regards to tension and those notes are pretty much what I expected. A little concerned that Rogers is all peppy after Winter Soldier, but the Stark one doesn't bother me. He uses sarcasm and quips to hide behind. He freaking builds Ultron as a response to 3 so I thought that was a moot point in that review.

I am glad Renner is getting some great screen time from all of the reviews I have read.

As long as it's better than Iron Man 2 I'll be happy

Decent rotten tomatoes score... I think that qualifies for slightly above "meh."

Not everyone will love it but I'm not worried. Not everyone loved Empire Strikes Back when it was new - the wait for answers was too long.

Not saying it will be Empires, but you know. We'll see.

Its at 83% which is well above meh. I think of meh in the 40-60 range.

I agree, meh is an overstatement

Oh, I wasn't saying the Rotten Tomatoes score was meh, just linking it because it links to other reviews. If you read the individual reviews, many of them have the same issues with the movie.

2nd movies in sequels that leave lots of unanswered questone are exactly how you are supposed to do it. You want the viewer to feel hollow and like they are hanging on a cliff. That's the purpose and it's part of the process. You have to appreciate the full scope of a series.. the buildup, the tension, and the climax.

I imagine some of those unanswered questions are what reviewers mean by mid-season finale. This movie may have more set-up for future movies than people may want, but... what do you expect? It's practically the launching point for an entire phase of movies.

It's (hopefully) not like Amazing Spider-Man 2 where the pacing is terrible and they cram too much into one movie because they got too greedy and dreamed to set up 4 more movies when they'd hardly built a franchise. And that franchise is now dead. This is the eleventh MCU film - they're starting to get more and more interconnected.

But we'll see. 9 more days!

That seems to be some of what the less positive reviews are saying, although to a much lesser extent than that overloaded waste of film.

Going at 7pm as well, and realized last night I'll have to miss game 6 of Spurs/Clippers. Or at least half of it.

Does it make me a bad nerd that ever since the new Star Wars trailer came out, I've cared a whole lot less about Ultron?

Right there with you. I haven't been super into this movie to begin with, but right now it feels like an afterthought. Feels like it's already been in theaters for a month now.

With Civil War on the horizon, that's the one that feels like the true Avengers sequel, and the one I'm looking forward to most, hands down.

You've described my feelings exactly. With all the clips they've put out, coupled with the fact that it's already come out in most of the world, it feels like it's been out for a while already.

And with the less than stellar reviews, and the expectation that it will feel like a midseason finale as opposed to a truly self contained film, I'm much less excited than I was just a month or two ago.

All my excitement has turned to Star Wars, and to a lesser extent, Jurassic World, Terminator, and Spectre.

You guys are ridiculous. You religiously study this stuff all year, read every blurb, break down every potential plot point, etc. You pretty much make up your minds and ruin the true experience of the movie before it even comes out.

I'm excited as hell for this movie. I don't read reviews, because reviewers are overly critical and forget the entertainment factor of seeing a movie. If it sucks, then it sucks.. But I'm not going to go in expecting it to be average because some ******* trying to get hits on his blog said so.

"Age of Ultron will be disappointing because it's a midseason finale, but Star Wars is awesome"

The best Star Wars film, Empire Strikes Back, was a midseason finale

Empire is critical to the storyline. I cant speak to AoU since I haven't seen it, but to me it seems like the real turning point of the series will be in Civil War and this one won't have many repurcussions on the future of the series except to make the world skeptical of superheroes.

You may be referring to TC, but I don't look up plots before watching a movie. I don't think reading reviews counts as that.

I think it's sitting at 81% on rotten tomatoes. I haven't let that stop me from being entertained though. I really enjoyed the last transformers movie.

I'm so sick of this idea that all critics are stuck up know-it-alls who completely ignore the entertainment factor when seeing a movie. I have five or six critics who I've come to trust over the years, ones who share my same sensibilities (and a couple who don't), but most importantly, ones who truly LOVE the movie-going experience more than just about anything else. They're FANS who sincerely want every movie they see to be a magical, transportive and entertaining experience. They're not all a bunch of Jebidiah Atkinsons, and I'm not some sheep who lives and dies by the Rotten Tomato score and makes up my mind long before a movie ever comes out. I'm ALL FOR giving this movie a chance. I was merely saying that I'm already tired of it based on the insane amount marketing, and that what I've seen so far just flat out hasn't excited me. Then again, I've never been a huge fan of the Marvel movies to begin with. I LOVE following the story rumors / casting / build up, and the movies themselves are definitely fun, but I've never been floored by a single one. So THAT, more than anything, is what informs my appetite for this movie, in combination with what I've been reading from critics I trust.

And here you are.. driving the narrative on the thread by saying it's tired already. I don't feel that way it all. You are plugged in and see a lot more than 99% of people. Once again, you've over exhausted yourself from the second the movie was announced, and you somehow blame it on the marketing of the movie. Stop jumping to conclusions about the movie until you've seen it.

Is that you, Joss Whedon?

I've scene two trailers, one clip, and then whatever commercials air during the NBA playoffs. That's it. But the marketing itself - and the repetition of those trailers/commercials - has been going on forever, and is unavoidable. And look, if the marketing advertised footage that excited me, I wouldn't be complaining one bit. But the footage itself hasn't excited me at all, and wasn't exciting to me long before I read a single review. So you're gripe is that I'm simply not as excited for this movie as much as you, and, well, that's just weird.

Still, I know NEXT TO NOTHING about the plot. I know less about this movie in advance than just about any Marvel movie I've seen. I haven't over exhausted myself in any way. But really, again, I'm TOTALLY open to this being a great movie. I WANT it to be a great movie. But I can't help it if what I've seen so far hasn't really revved my engines. And there's nothing wrong with reading a couple reviews from critics I like and trust, with those same critics seemingly backing up my initial disinterest.
