Their online viewership in general has skyrocketed and spread to other platforms. You also have talent doing fun side things like Up Up Down Down, etc.

These characters are branding themselves but also could be bringing in potential eyeballs to the flagship product that never have watched pro wrestling.

I think truly stems from Vince doing such a bad job with the creative vision for the shows, and then no real organization around all the ancillary areas where they could potentially tap into it to help build the growth.

But if the flagship product sucks, nobody cares. I'm a perfect litmus test. 4 years ago this April my friend begged me to just try to watch pro wrestling. Never have ever watched it in my life before. I became interested in lots of facets, confused by others, learned more about the history etc.

I stopped watching weekly well before AEW went live but since they have, I watch that show weekly (or as close to it as I can) and haven't watched a full episode of any WWE or NXT show or PPV other than RR last Sunday. And I can say 95% of that falloff is because the tv shows suck, the decisions they make on which wrestlers to push/bury suck, they fumble the football when the talent actually does create some organic chemistry or spark with Vince's dumb decisions after they get over, and the wrestling style is often too safe and basic for my liking.

I came to hate guys like Finn Balor just because you'd watch him do the same 7 moves in the same order every night and we'd all have to hear Michael Cole yell "SLINGBLADE!" then 2 moves later "COUP de GRACE!" in the exact same style night after night. So manufactured and boring.

The move to Fox has not been the boon to the company it was initially thought to be.

I wonder if the value of NXT has been fully appreciated by the market. Hopefully they can start boosting some revenue there further. Maybe some house shows in smaller venues that aren't in the typical rotation for the main brands.

I've always thought the sport and product should have a lot of appeal in places like China and India. I might be totally off base there though.

As for all the criticism of the product here, at some point it's just got to be nearly impossible to come up with quality for 5 hours of live tv each week. Hopefully they will figure it out though...and soon.

Wow I can't believe it's down to $48. It jumped from about $35 all the way up to $90 about a year ago IIRC.

Another solid win for AEW.

Funny how far RAW has fallen off everybody's radar. I just skipped through every minute just now as usual but stopped on the Orton segment and I must say violent Randy Orton is such a badass character and entertainer. The Edge news is really strange, too.

And I've mentioned it before but Goldberg is by far my favorite wrestler of all time as he came on the scene during my second phase while in college but even that announcement via satellite on Friday to challenge The Fiend barely moved the needle for me sadly.

Yeah, his ROH contract expired at end of 2019. He hasnt signed with anybody and is just working dates on a per date basis.

I don't watch wrestling anymore, but I went to the AEW show last night since I got a free ticket. Kind of flew by. Lots of reasons reminding me why I quit watching though (every match being a serious contest trying to get 5 star ratings, fans being obnoxious and trying to put attention on themselves, among others). That said, the Baker promo was hilarious, especially the Whataburger diss. People in the crowd wanted to legit murder her.

I'm convinced that AEW pays plants to start these chants as none of them seem natural but more forced.

I actually doubt they are plants. People love trying to start those chants, even if they have to force it
